I love the way you transformed this t-shirt! It would be fun to see elements of your stencils curling around the sides of the shirt, the sleeves, the back. It makes it come alive and the complementary colors look wonderful! Enjoy wearing it!! (It can always become a pillow, part of a quilt...) Have a good week!

This shirt turned out so cool, Shel! We´ve been dying stuff with the kids for grandparents, first with fabric paint and then with acrylics. I really like the geometric shapes on this shirt. Tfs, Fia xx

Great idea Shel. I hate throwing out clothes while they are still wearable. This can save some of my old favourites. Hey......you could also match them to the canvas shoes you made for your son!

Thanks for this video, but although i've watched this 3= times, i'm stumped on after you iron on the ink jet transfer , off camera i think you turned the shirt inside out, if so how come & then you then put on those 3 smaller pieces what material are these made from?
@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi Melody. This shirt already had 3 white panels ironed on to it. I had used inkjet printer iron on material...but had used rubber stamps and inks on it instead of running through the printer. It was an old shirt..and faded. So I decided to freshen it up using acrylic paint and stencils over the faded panels that were already there. To start from scratch you can just iron on the 3 panels or iron on stuff from home depot after washing and drying a shirt with no added softners. Then you can continue on with acrylic paint. Or, just skip the iron on and paint right on a shirt with fabric acrylic paint like this - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4SmlXeNn9-kfrs

Your t shirt looks great Shel. I’ve been trying to find the stencil girl stencils here but haven’t found a stockist that has the ones you’ve got 😞 we are so behind the times in Aus!

Wonderful up-cycling. Did you use fabric paint or a fabric medium in the acrylic paints? If not, won’t the end result be stiff? Thanks for sharing. Love the idea of it. Useful information for putting design on any fabric. Appreciate it. Thanks for sharing.
@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dorothy 😊 I did not use fabric medium in he paint as I was painting over old iron on material and wanted the acrylic to bond with it. Also, the paint I used is not craft paint so it will remain fairly flexible. Thanks for watching 😊

Hi Shel, what a great way to upcycle an old t-shirt!! I have a few that need something doing with them, not many with transfers oddly enough!! I assume this would work straight on to the fabric if you masked off the area you wanted? Hope you are ok. Hugs xx
@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nicki :) Yes, just mask off the area and get to painting. I know acrylic stains really well ...just ask me how LOL
@lorimcgarrity65376 жыл бұрын
Shel I didn't hear you say but did you use textile medium with your paint? I like to use that when working on clothing because it makes it softer when dried and I think it makes it lasts longer also.
@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lori :) I do use fabric additive medium if I am just painting directly on the fabric. It makes a big difference I agree. In this case..I was painting on that rubbery Iron on stuff so I wanted to paint to bond with it. So I didn't need any medium. Thanks for watching :)
