Finding water coloring to be the hardest medium done so far! Love the way you show how to paint. In most videos (just a beginner) and person has whole painting done & have no idea how they did it (just keep adding water) did not turn out well lol! Ty

That was so nice!! What I loved most is that you used the word capcicum as we do in India too!! I used to get all confused when in some places people say peppers!! Hi Louise, just wanted to sayI loved this video! So helpful and it really hits home because I have recently painted a very red dahlia so you have taught me to keep going with red in layers to get the right tone. Also I have separately painted some gum leaves and a dried banksia cone which had some interesting shadows which I painted too dark. In addition I tried painting the shadow at the same time as the leaves. By doing it after the object is finished makes it clearer to get the correct shape 💃 I am going to try again! Thank you

So useful to see the exact dilution of pigment you use for the initial shadow mix. I always end up doing lots of tests off to the side to get it right(ish). I think that shadows are so stressful because they can so easily ruin a piece that was going really well for ages! And sometimes you have to move your brain from intricate/delicate mode (painting the object) to a looser/charging style. However much I plan, shadows always seem to require a bit of courage- get in there, hope you get the tone right, get out and cross your fingers it dries right!
