Stunners those. I've got a whole 5th ed Lizards army that needs painting, alongside a 4th ed era High Elf army. They both deserve a proper Herohammer paint job, but my style (even during that period) has always tended toward the darker, more desaturated look that bookended the Herohammer period (both 3rd and 6th era, though different in terms of models, shared a very similar grimy look - likely due to J Blanche being heavily involved in both).

Those are great as a person who started with 5th edition I remember those old skinks and the Saurian warriors fondly and those awful Bret archers that I could never get to rank up I really love your paint job and feel super inspired to find my old skinks

So happy to see someone else talking about the need to change paint water after using true metallics. I brought this up on a painting forum once and people were acting like I was crazy for suggesting it! I’ve been doing it ever since I ruined some washes by putting my ‘rinsed’ brush in their pots, not realising I was contaminating the pots with metallic flakes, which then ended up on every surface I applied the washes to. And yes, I also leave the metallics to last because I’m also lazy!

Wow crazy timing. Just bought myself a fifth edition box set and finished my own skink set today also. Going for nostalgia and finally completing a paint of these guys. Making up for my shonkey and incompleted minis from when I also was about 10 years old also. Great to see your work when i just spent the last week on these guys too. Much better job than me. Was lucky enough to get hands on a complete special edition box still on sprues and including unpunched game cards, house and castle etc Smells of pure nostalgia. Keen to get more retro models if I manage to commit to painting these. I'm a more mature painter since being 10 but my eyesight is not as good as it used to be 😂,🧐

Excellent addition to your Warhammer Fantasy collection, those Skinks look good. One of my favourite monopose sculpts, with the high elf spearman, the skaven warrior. I have Skink archers and a couple of characters based and prepped waiting to be joined by some more lizardmen to prime and batch paint.

The 5th ed Skinks were sculpted by Alan Perry, he sculpted almost every model in that range. Easily the best Lizardmen range ever made!

Its not that Lizardmen didn't fit into the time frame, or story (there are Lizzies in the south lands to. The same for Skaven, Ogre Kingdoms, Dark elves, Vampire counts... Its just that the models is part of the AoS range. And GW don't want to compete with their own system. If OW continue to grow, and Malareon appears with a new ugly bread of Ääaaeölves there might suddenly be room for Dark elves for example in a future expansion. But its probably mostly sale that will bring back the rest of the armies! GW go video game and just give us half the release and rest in "DLC".
