One of the best vid about painting eyes....it is a pity you seem to speed up the process at a certain stage....could I suggest to make a much longer vid about this specific eyes matter at 1/35 scale...the outcome is superb!

Hello David, all of your video are awesome. I like that you also show the real things. Just amazing! This video will help a lot of Modellers to improve their figures faces as eyes are very difficult! A question. Is the tip of your brush dry quickly with this little acrylic? Maybe the use of retarder just for painting the eyes gives more time to paint this tiny details?

What do you use for primer? I am painting some Mech Miniatures for my boyfriend for the first time - and I have noticed most people use a primer, but they don't say what it is. Is it just an acrylic colour or is there a specific base/primer paint I should use?
@Lastcavalry
@Lastcavalry 9 жыл бұрын
There are many good primers available - you could use an acrylic primer but I prefer an automotive spray primer such as Brite Touch which can be found in most auto parts stores!

Ok thank you! :) I'm heading to the hobby shop around the corner soon, I'll keep an eye out for primers. Automotive sprays might be out of my price range? At least they sound like they would be, lol

Why exactly are you painting the eyes black and then adding a dab of color (blue, in this case) in the middle? Is this technique necessary for something I don't see? Would a "normal" eye (blue dab for iris, black dot of pupil in the middle, maybe a tiny speck of white on the edge for some light) look bad for some reason?
@Lastcavalry
@Lastcavalry 7 жыл бұрын
In larger scale the black "ring" of the iris represents the shadow that is seen in reality and also separates the iris from the "white" of the pupil as just a dab of blue does not have enough contrast - just my opinion!

Could you teach us how to paint highlight & shadow parts of clothes of a 1/35 soldier with Acrylics? Waiting urgently for your teaching! A fans in Aisa 2014.11.24
@Lastcavalry
@Lastcavalry 9 жыл бұрын
David, The methods are exactly the same only you want to lighten the colors on the clothes for scale effect. Filming is very difficult with 1/35th scale figures which is why I use the larger scale so you can see what is going on!

LastCavalry Historical Toys and Hobbies could you do a video for wwii german uniform field grey painting tutorial, especially the layer of highlight and shadow. the layer need to dilute by water(for acrylic), but i do not know the ratio between the colors and water. also the color mix and choice is my barrier. i always try to mix the field grey accurate.

+coweringbeef - I always apply the Smoke wash after painting the eyes as it is a semi-gloss transparent color that softens the transitions between the "whites' and the pupil, iris. Just my way...

One of the best eye vids I've seen, but since we're talking about miniatures here.... HOW ABOUT SOME REALLY CLOSE UP WORK SO WE CAN AT LEAST SEE WHAT YOUR DOING!!!? As it is, when you apply similar colors, it is impossible to see it!!! Thanks

*HELP NEEDED* I am designing a Greek GOD ( Zeus, Athena, Apollo etc.) wargame and I would like plastic figures to play with, but I cannot find any online. Scale can be anything smaller that 54mm but 1:72 would be best. I know these were once made; I saw them many years ago. Please point me to a store or manufacturer. THANKS. Of coarse, Roman gods would do just as well.
