Painting Gauge 1 Gordon, Henry and Percy - Covey's Thomas Models - 15/07/2024

For anyone wondering, the Tamiya paint cracks whatever is under it because all the Tamiya spray cans are laquer paint, and a lot of other spray paints are acrylic. Acrylic goes fine over laquer, but laquer tends to crack and bubble the acrylic. Found this out the hard way myself recently lol.

it'll even upset a good enamel unless the enamel is baked on, but of course, you can't bake plastic without "issues", so you just have to wait for the enamel to become indestructible, which is 3-4 summer weeks, or 3-4 winter months, depending on type of paint.

I love these videos, I never realised Gordon's running plate was a different shade to the others', that very interesting. Its also really cool to see a fellow Aussie with these amazing skills and attention to detail. If you ever bring your models to a show or something I'd love to come see them in person!

Hey! I was wondering if you could give me some tips on modeling. I started printing a Gauge 1 Toby model, and while I was trying to paint him and put him together, he was a little... ugly to say the least. So again, I was wondering if you could give me some tips on paint, where to get the motor and stuff?

toby’s a tricky one because he’s got the two toned planks. you really need an airbrush to be able to do it properly, and I recommend using jamos’ files

@@thomasmodeller2762 well I guess the people behind the Tv show was never happy also with the models to some degree for the amount of small changes made over the years to the models really show, so I get your point of view for always looking out for the best possible outcome
