That looks fantastic! Your mastering of the airbrush is showing up more and more.

Thanks Russell, I don’t know about mastering the airbrush, keeping them clean and smooth spraying is a real challenge that I struggle with regularly but I’d do feel I’m improving in many aspects of the whole painting process.

Thanks Lance, I hope you have had a chance to throw this one, I suspect you’ll get a Pickerel or two for sure if not a big old Georgia Bass.

Great looking baits. We use Firetiger for pike,walleye, and musky in stained water in Canadian water. For something different, you can go over the base colors with Createx Candy2O mixed five parts UVLS to one part candy, then put on 7-10 layers of candy. Gotta go very light coats and use cool air to dry well between coats. Little paint, lots of air. Little paint, lots of air It makes a deep gloss that looks like you could reach into it. The more coats, the deeper it looks. The candy comes in two shades of yellow, orange, two greens, blue, red, brown, purple, and black. I’ve seen few baits besides mine that do this. I want something different from what Walmart or Bass Pro sell. Anyway, nice video. Thx

@@Indyjeeplover Thanks, I catch a lot of Chain Pickerel up here and when I get in waters with Pike, Fire Tiger is my go to bait. Thanks for info on the Candy2O, I’ve been wanting to try some of that as well as some color shifting paints. Will definitely do some baits using both of those in the near future. Thanks again !

If you try Candy2O, Createx has a lot of how to videos. It’s best to mix very well in a small cup and let it sit for ten minutes before spraying. It takes a little time for the chemicals to emulsify. Many of the videos I’ve seen for lures are using it incorrectly according to Createx. The gloss you get with candy is impressive particularly when finished with Tru-Coat. Candy colors, particularly the darker ones are very intense and must be thinned or you won’t get the effect. I’m going to switch to 4053 High Gloss UVLS and 4021 reducer. The 4053 should give even more shine. I prefer high gloss as I want my lures to pop color wise. You might try a perch pattern with Pearlized Pineapple Yellow for the belly and Pearlized Green for the back,then apply Candy Lemon Yellow over the belly and Candy Emerald Green over the back. I used one on a jerk bait for musky and it worked very well

Very Nice! Can you please share your tip size and about how much % you thinned it
@RaggedEdgeLureWorksАй бұрын
Thank you Capt. All of the airbrushes I use have a 3.5 mm tip size. I have one that has interchangable tips / needles of 2.0 , 3.5 & 5.0 but I have yet to try any of the sizes besides 3.5. I think when I am priming lures or painting a whole lure in a single color I may try the 5.0 because I have a lot of issues keeping my brushes running smoothly and not clogging. Another reason for that I suspect is that I run most of my paints straight out of the bottle and do not thin them with H2O or a reducer and I think that might reduce the number of times I have to stop and flush out my airbrush, which as you can imagine is very frustrating. Still learning as I have only been painting with an airbrush sine Feb of this year. Thanks for watching !

That's impressive, Don! Man, I can't believe how good you have become at this, and so quickly! The lures look awesome. How did you get the eyes to appear red again after air brushing them black? Great looking lures, my friend. Be careful now... you will be so busy with orders you won't have time for fishing!!!
@RaggedEdgeLureWorksАй бұрын
Thanks Kevin ! The lure blanks I use do not have the eyes installed, I add the eyes after the painting is done prior to clear coating. Sadly I am done fishing for the year and once I get this shoulder surgery behind me I will be doing a lot of painting this winter. I hope to have enough inventory built up that I don’t have to worry about painting durning the prime fishing season. I just completed my biggest single order to date for an outfitter friend out in Iowa for three boxes of assorted lures for $300. This little cottage business has truly exceeded my expectations and I am amazed by the feedback I have gotten. So blessed.
