It just hit me that these aren’t mounted with the integrated bases. This look very nice. Did you saw the feet off of the integrated base or use some other technique?
@AshandStoneNZ4 жыл бұрын
That's true, they are not! I cut the integrated bases off with a pair of flush cutters. I clip flush around the feet, then clip off the excess below the feet, leaving about 0.5mm extra plastic. Using a knife I tidy up any unevenness around the sides of the feet. A quick sand with some 240 grit to make sure the bottom of the feet are flat and on the same plane, and it's ready to be glued to the base. The extra bit of plastic under the feet ensures the feet do not get mangled if something goes wrong with the cut. I originally tried using a razor saw, but found the flush cutters to be significantly quicker and easier. Metal figures can be done the same way, though if the integrated base is thin (i.e.

Very cool, I probably won't buy these skeletons and instead just use my frostgrave ones, I think I have 10-20 (they come with the cultist, you could also use Warhammer skulls and add those). Have you ever considered cutting up spare arrows that sometimes go with archer mins and drilling a hole into skeleton mins, then the arrows into them? I've been thinking of trying that.
@AshandStoneNZ4 жыл бұрын
I have tried that! I've done it with frostgrave zombie miniatures in the past. Make sure you drill the hole deep. If it's too shallow the arrows break off very easily (I speak from experience!)

How sturdy are the spear arms once glued? The connection point seems that it's so small that I'm worried they will break off too easily.
@AshandStoneNZ3 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly sturdy. They join together with a ball and socket joint so they have the maximum surface area possible for a good bond. I glued them with tamiya extra thin and have not broken an arm yet. They are fine models though, so I take a bit more care when handling them than I do other models.

Do you reckon these would rank up on 20mm square bases for WHFB easily?
@AshandStoneNZ2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they absolutely would. You will have to trim down the puddle bases they come with though.
@martindavison5974 жыл бұрын
Really nice man, outta interest do you know how they’d do for DND minis as I’m interested in grabbing a few for a campaign
@AshandStoneNZ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers! They will work well for D&D. Mine will be doubling up for that as well. They scale very well with the WizKids range as well as other 28mm ranges like LOTR or other North Star kits. They are smaller and finer than Reaper Bones miniatures, but will work just fine beside them.

Great video. What's the handle you are using to hold the figures? Is it custom-made?
@AshandStoneNZ4 жыл бұрын
Cheers. Yes, it's a 3D printed painting handle, specially designed to hold the bases I use.
@HelmutWPesch-rk6ty4 жыл бұрын
@@AshandStoneNZ That's what I thought. Anyway, it looks very useful, since I always paint around four figures at the same time. Maybe I can handcraft something like that for myself - unless you are thinking of going into mass production …
@AshandStoneNZ4 жыл бұрын
They are definitely handy for churning out a few figures at a time. If you are serious about wanting some, you can send me an email (check the about page on my channel) and we can try to get you sorted. Alternatively if you can get access to a 3D printer, I'll be making the files available for anybody to download in the next few days.
