Great breakdown of atmospheric perspective Danny. I’m often tempted to over-paint and put too much detail throughout a landscape, so your tip of ‘breaking down the scene in layers,’ is very helpful.

Thanks Samantha! I have that same temptation too! Sometimes the differences between different layers is subtle and I'm tempted to make a distant layer of scene too dark which always messes things up! haha. I had that happen yesterday in fact. I think this is one of those things where you have to paint with a combination of what you see and what you know.

Atmospheric perspective is very hard to do here in Colorado as there's not always a lot of moisture/particulates in our thin mountain air; so one has to tweak reality a little in order to create depth. Thanks for the reminder. :)
