I painted these Panzer 38(t) tanks by the plastic soldier company!
It’s not an overly complex paint job, I’d call it a fairly high tabletop standard of painting. IT’s got more than three colours, but it’s not super weathered. It’s pretty much what I was going for and I’m pretty happy with the result.
I bet you could easily replicate this without too much of a struggle at all.
Let me know what you think in the comments below. Unless you’re going to be a ding dong, then just don’t.

They were starting to look quite a dark, but that mat varnish made them great! Tip: If you're going to paint a lot of grey panzers in the future, Vallejo has German Panzer Grey surface primer to save time.

I had actually thought about it, but didnt't think it was worth buying (and waiting for) just for these guys at the time. Thinking about it though I do have a few things I'd like to do in German grey.

15mm (1/100) is a small scale and these are little tanks. Painting these models in grey is always a challenge... well, if one want's this tanks look interisting. For both reasons - tiny tanks and grey vehicles - it is alway a good choice to do less is more. That's what you've done here and you've done it in a great way. So I think: 9/10. (Minus one for the insentive.) ;)

I learned less is more from playing bass. Of course... sometimes more is more... but in the case of tiny tanks, I think it's better to to not go too far.

One thing you can do if you want, is use a graphic pencil and highlight the tracks and some of the edges. It's surprising how it makes things pop.

I would have done the Army Painter light wash AFTER painting the brown stowage boxes, the exhaust pipes, tow cables, wooden handles, etc. It would save time and pull the model together better. It would give it an all-over dusty, 'Russian steppes' sort of look. Also why did you do the Army Painter dark wash at all? It seems to be an unnecessary step and it largely kills the highlight grey and makes the German grey look almost black - which the highlighter spray was presumably meant to avoid. I would have saved a little bit of that dark wash (or black) for around the engine hatches and grills as oil stains and perhaps a little washed around crew hatches to make them stand out. The tracks are steel and should have a steel gleam on the edges. Try a little soft lead pencil along the edges of the tracks, the track teeth and the edges of the rack teeth. Overall I think the finished effect was a wee bit too dark for early WW2 German.

I used the army painter dark wash exactly for the reason you said... to darken it down. I am sure I said somewhere in the video that I like german grey tanks to be dark. I do often use a pencil and/or graphite sticks on tracks, but usually on larger models. I didn't feel it was necessary here. I don't like the tracks to be too shiny and I felt this way they look more dirty at a distance. Quick and simple tabletop job, remember.

Can you do a flames of war gaming video with those tanks?

I wouldn't hold your breath. It takes a lot of extra work to do a gaming video and there's not really much incentive.

Except it's painted up as a German tank... being used by Germans... I would consider that a German tank. But sure, be pedantic about the place they were manufactured.
