Lana, this was SO interesting to watch. I love the way you use some unexpected colors that work so beautifully together in the light and shadow areas. And I love the way you neutralize just a little bit of the high chroma colors at the very end for a slightly more realistic effect. I love all the varied line work you create within the rocks, making the rough texture very believable. I was wondering when you set up your original sketch how you are able to draw some of the smaller rocks and planes without getting lost in the details. That is one thing that frustrates me when I'm trying to do what looks like a complex scene with lots of shapes within shapes. And by the way, thanks again for creating these helpful tutorials!

Thanks so much for your great feedback Janet! Yes, it's one of the biggest challenges not to get lost in details ;) So I start with the larger shapes and then bring smaller details in as needed, it's easier that way.

Thank you Bryan! This was actually just non sanded paper, more like sketching paper. It might be from a Canson pad, I don’t remember now. I’ve been using non sanded paper more lately, experimenting 😁

This is regular gray non-sanded paper, like Canson (the reverse side, which is a bit less textured).
