The Starry Night is one of the most famous paintings by the great artist Van Gogh.
I have been thinking of doing the Starry Night painting on my wall. One week before when I actually started it, the same thought came to my mind again. I just took the decision, finalized the wall and brought the required material. I had to clear some thin cracks on the wall before starting with the painting.
The wall I finalized is of size 11 feet x 7 feet. It is not in the same proportion of the original painting.
As per my requirement, I drew the painting outlines on the wall and highlighted these outlines with the paint. I selected Royale Luxury Emulsion from Asian Paints as the mural size is big and obviously using the artist colors was not a good economic option.
I bought 1ltr dark blue shade and 1ltr White base color. Also, bought yellow and black stainer.
Prepared the green shades by mixing the blue and yellow colors. Used the artist acrylic colors to highlight the moon and the stars with orange shades.
For the start, I painted the plain areas with rollers which helped to cover the bigger areas.
Also, roughly painted the moon and the stars.
After this, worked on detailing the sky and the mountains.
There is a Cypress tree which is also a main part of the painting. I painted the tree differently referring to the other paintings of Van Gogh.
Painted gloomy farmlands, houses with lights, church which is part of the village at the bottom of the painting. In the end, gave some final touches and completed the mural.
It took around 25-30 hours to complete the entire painting. I am glad that I thought of painting
this on the wall and I'm happy with the end result.
