I have painted my tarmac driveway with two different expensive tarmac ‘revivers’ over the years and both have failed within a year……Then I realised I had an old 25 litre tin of good old bitumen roof coating I needed to get rid of, so decided to thin it with white spirit and paint my driveway, thinking it was a waste of time, but at least I had got rid of that big container. Nearly seven years later it is still significantly better than my neighbours driveway, when it was significantly worse before.

Will fade after a year, and car tyres will also wear it away. Absolute waste of money and time!

Hi Jake and Jakey, what a great team. Savage job. Something I'm going to be tackling shortly for a friend is a tarmac drive, unfortunately I still only have K4 karcher but going to try my best. He has the tinted sealer for it so to bring it back to life, lots of oil stains that need sorting and I have tfr so going to throw a bit down on that to scrub in and for my own house bought Nu clear Fallout Pro to do pebble dash, paths, patio and block drive

I have just done the first coat on my tarmac drive today using the same Tarmaseal product (too late finishing to apply second coat, so will continue tomorrow if the weather is kind to me). Don't get too hung up about your K4. I did mine with a K2 compact which is the puppy of the Karcher range. Useless for a professional where time is critical, but fine for DIY. I treated myself to a T5 Racer rotary surface cleaner attachment (£68 from Halfords) which is a baby version of what the pro's use and fits all the Karcher K series cleaners. It did the job fine, just took longer. A word of caution.... if your mate's drive has seen better days like mine, even the "puppy" K2 will give it a good beating and wash out any loose stones. Mine shed loads and looked terrible afterwards. You've heard the phrase "polishing a turd" which is basically what I accepted I am doing with my 22 year old, neglected and unmaintained drive. Also the phrase " a stitch in time saves nine"......if I had tackled this 5 years ago when I first started procrastinating about it, it wouldn't have got so badly worn. That said, the first coat of sealer has utterly transformed it and looks so much smarter than I could have hoped. It has dried streaky, but it took me 3/4 of the way through the first coat to get a grasp of the rolling technique (it's harder than it looks..... this is nothing like decorating a bedroom wall!). I am hoping the second coat will even things out. It still looks damned good though compared to before. Good luck and go easy with that K4, it will be more than powerful enough, just don't expect it to take you 15 minutes. Oh and as seen here with these guys, I can concur that the rollers get beaten up pretty quickly so buy a few.

I’ve watched other videos - all from the USA I recall - where they applied the product using a long-handled squeege … seemed to go on much faster & far less patchy. Worth a try on a small test patch?

Commented before I had watched till the end, now not sure if this is a windup…….Most of these miracle tarmac revivers look fantastic at first, but this job looks patchy and terrible, show us what it looks like in a month 🙄

I used a tarmac renewer paint a few years ago. Gave it 2 coats looked good for 6 months then gradually faded to what it was before. Also, tried it on a footpath at a different location . Same. Pointless job, wont do again.

Looks a brilliant job would be interesting to see how long it will last and the measuring tool looks a great bit of kit I could have done with one of them over the years I won't need it now I'm nearly retired I'll stick to my measuring wheel interesting video 👍

Might be worth carrying some brick acid on board for mishaps like the footprint and the stray roll onto the border stone. I find applying with a sponge and agitating with a stiff bristle brush works magic. Then just leave. Or dab off with a clean sponge and water if you’re confident you won’t get run off onto your brand new work

If you're going to put sealer over the tarmac after a clean. Do you not bother to put a biocide down after the initial wash before putting the sealer on?
