I agree that painting small can be relaxing and I don't feel any pressure about mistakes. I love to paint little flowers or dragonflies then make them into bookmarks to give to family and friends.

I too love to paint small primarily because my space available for painting is extremely limited. I became sold on the idea of painting small after reading Joyce Washor's book: "Big Art small canvas" now republished as: "THINK BIG paint small." 😊

I love the way you explain things, like the amount of water, mixing colours how and why, dealing with unexpected amount of water or color etc. I am so happy that you are sharing your knowledge and joy with us. Thank you so much!

Earlier this year I had to spend several weeks in bed flat on my back. A tiny pallet, painting journal, and water brushes( with a water well right in the handle), were a sanity saver. Learned to have a gentle touch and patience!

I paint small evytime bc it's watercolors on nails. 💅. But you are the first content creator I've actually have learned from and quickly. Sometimes we get request from clients on specific flowers, like Hibiscus flower 🌺, so I quickly found your tutorial here on KZbin and had a VERY happy client. So THANK you so much for taking the time teaching us😊

Painting tiny makes my paint and paper go so much further while still getting practice in and being able to finish a painting faster. So even if it doesn't turn out the best, I don't feel like I wasted a bunch of time or supplies. Plus they are often adorable! I will paint the same thing multiple times but in different sizes, which makes it feel new again. Some I'll use as note cards, others I'll frame to decorate my home, and others are just to see how tiny I can paint.

I have been in a discouraging slump recently. My work was better when I first started watercolor 8 months ago than now. However, your tiny flowers changed things. My flowers actually look good thanks to you. I have found renewed hope since watching and rewatching your tutorial. Thank you for your easy manner and example.

When I practice or doodle, I go smaller than 5x8. (I have that same PR journal & snap brushes, btw😊). If using, say, a 9x12 paper, I'll line it into several sections to do different types of scenes on one page. Saves on paper and paint for practice. Good show👍

I love painting tiny! It is so much less intimating. I started watercolor painting as a new retirement hobby in Dec 2023 with your advent Christmas projects. They were so fun and I enjoyed tackling something that I thought was impossible on a small piece of paper instead of a big project. I started a small image daily calendar in June 2024 and before or after working bigger projects I'll paint a sample or something else that inspires me on the calendar. Thank you for pulling me into this world of watercolor.

I am using the new Paul Ruebens Floral watercolors. Beautiful colors, I think maybe those 3 browns that look a like are because if you are painting gardens and trees maybe they don't want us to run out of the firt or tree trunk colors. Just a thought.

I Love this!! ❤️ Painting tiny is so cute. I have AMD of the eyes so it's hard for me to paint tiny but I've always loved making tiny things. I made a Barbie wedding gown when I was 13 years old. I also made a tiny house with electric in it. With tiny furniture, curtains, beds 🛌 the whole works!! It was so cool. Oh and the best part was making the plug ins in the walls!! Plus lamps. So cute. Now days they make all those things for you. It's more fun to make it yourself. Of course back then we cooked on wood stoves still. Oops showing my age. Lolololol 😊 that's OK. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸. PS Love the pallet!!😂.

Awesome and inspiring video! Just one (beginner?)question; do you - every now and then - need to brush the palette with something so the wood stays pretty and strong or is that not necessary?
