Hello Charles, it's great to see you paint, but you always make it look so easy. I took my brother to one of your painting workshops at Rochester many years ago. Clinton still refers to your books and some of the pictures he has painted many times. He hasn't gone out much since he feels safer at home. Now I'm retired I have had more time to paint - I'm still rubbish, but I enjoy trying. thank you so much for sharing your art and giving so many of us so much pleasure and of course hints and tips. I would love to go on one of your workshops again, but ill health (cancer) it won't be possible, so you see these videos to me are priceless. Thank you so much, you are a wonderful artist and a beautiful person. Please stay safe and bless you. x😊

Closed into the house because of the Coronavirus. Always wanted to paint so I thought this would be a great time to start. Happened onto your videos which motivated me. Got some canvas boards and acrylics locally. Found some brushes which my wife used years ago which are crappy and not up to the task. Ordered some supplies from your store and can’t wait till they arrive in the US. Love your instructional style. Keep safe.
@annettefournier96554 жыл бұрын
Would you mind terribly sharing with me what the shipping costs approximately, ballpark-ish to you in the US were? ie. About the same as the supply cost? Or half the supply cost, etc? I would hate to order something then see the shipping is 3x the cost of the supplies. I would appreciate a heads up. I know it won't be exact for what I may order. Just to get an idea. Ex. I saw something on eBay for 8.95, then additional cost was 45.98. That's just crazy. Thanks.
@wentletube4 жыл бұрын
@@annettefournier9655 Ordered 10 tubes, brush set, Stay-wet palette, and acrylics book. Charged £8.00 shipping for everything. Total came to about $100. Very reasonable I think. I get your point-if shipped from the US the cost is way up there.

Beautiful panting Charles, thanks for sharing it with us. I bought your book recently and have begun having a go with acrylics. Could I ask you if there's anything you can do or get that will slow down the drying time of acrylics? I live in a very hot climate and the paint dries really fast which makes it difficult to blend, etc sometimes. Many thanks

Doesn't the canvas suck much of the acrylic when it's not gessoed first? Btw, I use a chalk to draw when I've done the underpainting. But, of course, it depends on the subject matter. I like your tutos very much. Thank you and happy easter to you and your dear ones. 🐣🐑🐥

Was there a reason, apart from sponsorship (which is no reflection on you) why you switched from Winsor and Newton to Daler-Rowney? Both are good - in acrylics and watercolour at least - not so much in oil paint; but did you decide that one was better than the other? And while we're at it - how do you prevent the build-up of mould in your stay-wet palette? I've tried white vinegar to clean it up with, which does help a lot; or that baby bleach - Milton's fluid, or something.... but I've not managed to keep the stay-wet palette entirely clear of mould after a month or so.
@charlesevans77063 жыл бұрын
I had been with Daler Rowney for 15 years previous to Winsor’s so went back to where I belonged and to where the product had improved. I’ve never really had that much of a problem with mould. However after a month, I think you’ve had your monies worth. Don’t you?

When and why have you stopped promoting Windsor and Newton art materials and Cottam brushes for Daler and Rowney art materials and Aquafine brushes and paints. Either way I love the end results in the fabulous paintings of yours. I took up painting landscapes mainly in watercolours and occasionally acrylicc about 15 years ago. I have benefited watching the videos and books and gained many tips. Have sold more than a few and believe your tips have helped me improve my techniques to a point that I'm fairly satisfied (though not always) with my finished artwork. Looking forward to seeing more of you on KZbin.
