Amazing and straightforward video ;) For self-taught artists like me, this kind of stuff, seeing the workflows of people, help understand better the global artistic workflow and make our own too ! Been many months I've been watching your vids but never though about subscribing, now it's done ^^

Thank you for the sub. It's very useful to look at multiple persons' workflow and to come up with your own, definitely. Or rather, the broad steps of an illustration or a game sprite tend to always be the same - but digital painting programs are so rich in functionality that each artist can (and should) bend certain functions to its will. That's probably where a program like PS really shines, and Krita is well on its way as far as that's concerned. Can't wait for Python scripting! BTW: Self taught artist here as well!

GDquest Yep Krita rocks (just discovered you were a french speaker by the way, but I hate when other people may not understand what we're publicly commenting about so I'll just keep answering in english ;) ) for a free soft. It's really an amazing painting tool. Was a bit scared at the beginning because I didn't see many quality paintings with it, but people like you and many others on KZbin started using it widely and some since the beginning of 2016 we're starting to see some really high quality stuff. Using it also helped in thinking it is a great tool. PS is indeed amazing too, a bit more of a jack of all trades, but never compromising tool qualities for this. I was a bit sad they decided to go with the subscription way =/ For a freelancer artist like you that's perfect, for someone who's purely a solo game dev like me, it's a bit out of reach xD Also saw your pixel art vids some times ago but as I said on on your live 000b replay, I'm a bit scared of the hate toward pixel art these days. May switch back to that if it ever wears off. But yeah keep up the good job and know that if you ever decide to switch to french for tutorials, I'll keep following nonetheless

Thanks! I'd love the tutorials to be available in multiple tongues, but it would mean having multiple people to do translations and voice recordings, to manage different communities and different channels. Hard to find the funds to do that, hard to find the right people... maybe in a few years!

Yeah I can understand how hard it is and how much time it will take =\ BTW do you plan to do a tutorial where you draw "hard" surfaces, I mean objects with only very straight lines (buildings, guns, crates...)? Or you already have one ? (in which case I totally missed it)

+nicsnabong It's Ctrl H to hide the selection I think, and Alt H to unhide it (or maybe it's just H). For some reason I can answer your post directly - it's marked as an "associated comment" or whatever it's called in english.

Great vids. Good to see Krita get some more youtube love. Slight correction on the English side. Around the 3 minute mark you say the next step is not the funniest... since in english we have a lot of similar sounding words, its easy to imply the wrong thing. In this case "funniest" implies there is a joke or humor involved...meaning the goal is to get a laugh. Saying "is not the most fun" or the informal "not the funnest" (no i in word) would imply a lack of entertainment or enjoyment. Anyways, subscribed.

Thanks! Got little time to spread the word about the channel, but it's growing at a constant pace, so no worries. Krita is still not super well known, plus the tutorials are not step by step and with catchy themes, which is why it's growing slowly. But the people following the channel are really nice, and I love to see a quality community sprout here, rather than a lot of subscribers.

Hi, do you have separate layers for line art, colours and shading or colour the line art straight in? I’m new to this and just wonder what’s the best method, I’m thinking of doing the body parts separately to make sprite sheets easier

Hey, I am looking everywhere for a way to put these assets in a game engine like unity. It seems you do use krita to do this occasionally. I really don't understand how to get a transparent background on an image in unity. Does anyone have tips or tutorials to check? I hit a dead end, and would love the help.

Currently you have to use a trick: when you save, save to the Spriter SCML format. Save that inside of a folder, because it's going to generate a lot of files: it will basically cut all of your layers and put them into subfolders to reflect your layers hierarchy.

Dude, I loved this tut and I used it in my latest Ludum Dare entry to create my own art : ludumdare.com/compo/ludm-dare-33/?action=preview&uid42065 I used Paint.Net but the tip of want+invert selection then do hue shifting/palette/highlights and shadows saved my bacon! Couldn''t learn Krita in that 48h timeframe... Mind you, the artwork still looks like dog-poop due to my lack of skill, but without your insights, it would have looked like old, moldy dog poop. Instead it's this fresh poop that... eh... never mind. Thanks, previously I've given up fast because I haven't had the tools to even get started! cheers, /m
