Χριστός Ἀνέστη! Ἀληθῶς Ἀνέστη! Πολύ ὄμορφη ἀποτύπωση τοῦ Θεανδρικοῦ Προσώπου! Συγχαρητήρια! Ἀποπνέει γλυκύτητα, γαλήνη καί ἀπέραντη σοφία. So beautiful, to capture the work of the masters so perfectly is a two-fold feat of artistic skill: famous aesthetics are so well recognized that even the slightest discrepancy will stand out, and the method itself is so fastened to its time and culture that to properly practice it one must have not only the same materials but research the techniques from historians rather than living teachers

My cousin was a priest and iconographer he very recently passed away. One summer he gave me a lesson and I painted my own icon. It took me 3 weeks to complete. Came out perfect. Then we used a quick varnish. And it smeared it unfortunately so no longer perfect. But I have kept it. A nice reminder of my cousin. He painted all the icons in our church. I personally like the murals on church walls I still have the powder paint he gave me but have never attempted another icon.

Sad you stopped, try acrylics. I know its not original, but easier, quicker, cheaper material and also with light spray fixative carefully in a distance no great problem. Looks still great.

@@SabineMüller-j6f thanks for the heads up 🙏 I’ve been painting different genres since then acrylics are my favourite medium as it’s quick drying. I might try again in the future I did paint Mother Mary on canvas as a present for someone using acrylics but In a more Catholic style What do you paint?

@@bikesrcool_1958 You mean Jesus? I love him very much, in fact all Muslims love him. Believing in Jesus and loving him is a basic condition in Islam☺️. But we do not believe in him as a god❌, but rather as a prophet sent by God to deliver his message like many prophets such as Moses, Jesus, Adam... and the last of them is Muhammad, and one of the conditions of Islam is belief in all the prophets and belief in their message and love. The Virgin Mary is also mentioned among us, and the Qur’an greatly praised her and mentioned her story. She has a high status in Islam as well.

Try it, when you believe in the holy Trinity. You can ask a priest to bless it afterwards. You will get in a good friendship with Jesus during painting and learn a lot❤and I mean not the painting process itself. Ask Jesus to help and guide you. Sure he will.

I wanna be iconographer but Idk how to be a successful iconographer. By the way Im not Christian and I dont belong to any religion but I have a special interest in icons. And I have made icons before and I also have a talent for painting. I still don't know if I'm suitable to be an iconographer, but I need help with this
