Fantastic job Len! I've been using PSP for at least 20 years, when it started out as a Jasc product. Wanted something simple to use... Photoshop is too expensive and complicated. The yearly subscription put the nail in the coffin. Most recently, I was using PSP X9. Purchased 2023 Ultimate in February 2023 and haven't had time to learn the ropes. Thanks so much for getting me going with a quick tour of the work spaces, and a few of the tools. Some are familiar to me such as cropping, flood fill, etc. Others, such as the AI tool are new and I'm excited to try them out! This video is exactly what I needed. Looking forward to your other videos. More please! 👍💜

My first time to view one of your videos. Thanks for your work Len. I'm a veteran Photoshop user who abandoned Adobe after they switched to subscription. Corel seems to have provided the right replacement for me - thanks for convincing me!

Thanks for video Len. I started using Jasc PSP back in 97 and used the PSP 8 version up until a few months ago when it wasn't supported anymore in Windows 10. I have downloaded the Corel versions over years but found I could do it as well with PSP 8 ... until I couldn't anymore. So knuckle down to Corel PSP 2023. Gradually getting comfortable with it, but it definitely has a few quirks of its own. For example if you find a tool not seeming to work, you have to hit the 'select none' button... even if there is no active selection... to get the tool to work. Also it does this weird save thing. Like if you open and copy a layer from another folder and file and image, it won't save to the changes to the original if you try but creates a whole new image in the folder you are working in. You end up with multiple versions of the same file in different folders even if you don't want that. The AI stuff does work fairly well, I use it a lot. But I use 'Sharpen More' quite often too. I also have dabbled in Photoshop off and on too, and like many others, find the snob aspect thing about it annoying because PSP does it all for a lot less money and simpler.

Thank you Len for a demonstration that has enabled me to make a decision on PSP. I have used MS Digital Image Pro since I believe Windows XP and have found workarounds for getting it to work with Windows 10 Pro. Since MS has gotten out of photo editing software, I need to upgrade. Photoshop is way overkill for my needs and I never felt comfortable with it. It looks like PSP would be a good upgrade for me. 👍🏻

Very helpful, I was considering asking for refund for paintshop pro. There seems to be very little support or tutorials for a beginner. This video was very helpful except he used a customized tool bar. It took me forever to find the buttons/operations or know which toolbar to go to.

Len, good video! It is good to watch a tutorial that doesn't fall into the trap of "here", i.e. the narrator says something like "Go over here..." when moving the mouse, and forgets that the viewer doesn't know ahead of time where "here" is. And I've abandoned so-called tutorials that are little more than demonstrations of virtuosity.

Hi Len. I think I am in way over my head here. I have watched your video and numerous other tutorials, but when I follow the steps in Paintshop Pro 2023 - while working on a collage template - they do not garner the same results. For instance, I paste a photo into the correct layer in the collage, but afterwards I cannot select it or move it. When I try, it moves the entire section of the collage. Can you point me to a tutorial that will explain why this is happening? If not, I will be returning this program. Thank you.

How similar is PSP to Photoshop? I am used to using Photoshop so I am looking for an easy transition.

Photoshop is a cadillac. PSP is the underdog and it is innexpensive. If your life depends on Photoshop to make a living stay with it.. But if you just do designs from time to time no need to spend $$$ needlessly.

Good video...but product itself is a bit disappointing. Corel does OK with some of the add-ons, the scripts and adding clipart and such, but when it comes to the meat and bones of photo editing, we cannot help but be disappointed. The noise reduction just ends up blurring everything and the sharpening is lackluster. The AI option is not any better, but you may be fooled into thinking it is special because it takes a lot of memory and time. In fact the program is so poor in these respects that patches should be forthcoming. A work around would be to get a 3rd party plugin for the sharpening and noise reduction.

just got the free trial 2023 and it has NONE of the things you show on yours across the top and down the side NONE. its a flaming POS. has NO layers functions at all. and it takes over the entire computer screen so u cannot have more than one visible window. just garbage. glad u got one that works tho
