we call these tamarillos in new zealand, my mum has 2 trees in her garden - she loves them and i can't stand them lol! i've never tried them in savoury dishes before, only as a sweetsour fruit, i'd love to try a couple of these recipes and see if i enjoy them like that

We call the fruit "tamarillo" in English. It's native to South America (like all the edible nightshades, including tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers!). I've never had it, but I'll keep my eye out in the specialty markets to see if I can find it!

Tamarillo are interesting but not the same as vine tomatoes. Same family, different species. It's like calling Pomelos as grapefruit. Not the same. Tamarillo like Pomelos are good. Sweet and Tart.
