I met Mikkey a couple of times at Motörhead gigs…super friendly guy and more than willing to hang out and shoot the shit with fans for a few minutes. I’ve seen a LOT of shows over the years, and I don’t think any drummer hits harder than Mikkey. His energy is incredible even in his 50s.

Holly Hell That Was AWESOME!!!! Saw King Diamond as a kid and I was immediately blown away by Mikkey Dee's drumming, thus becoming a lifelong fan. This spotlighted performance of "Sacrifice" encapsulates one of the best heavy metal double bass grooves of all times and why Mr.Delaoglou sits atop the mountain of heavy metal forefathers. M.D. was spot on about that power ride. It's not for wusses; takes some getting used to learning how it responds to the stick in the way you hit it and where you hit it. It's a mini flying saucer; very heavy and just big all around. Better suited for loud, amplified heavy rock music where a lot of that "bleeding" is absorbed in the wall of noise from your guitar and bass stacks being carried out to the audience. Great ride cymbal but sounds the best with the right style and volume of music played. Buyer and ears beware!

I just picked one up used in VGC for a steal. One of my favorite rides ever. It did take some getting used to but I am a heavy bell player so I got used to it pretty quickly.

10 years ago, I saw Mötorhead for the first time. Wolverhampton with Anthrax and they opened with this. Beast of a tune! Mikkey first had me hooked when I heard Welcome Home by King Diamond. That intro is legendary.
