Daeng Mile is one of the living national treasure for Pakarena and Makassar music maestro.
Taught by his grandfather and his father. He and Daeng Serang were cousin, grew up together and has their own style of gandrang.
The recording located at his house at Kalase’rena village. Sorrounded by his families. His sons became musicians and his daughter became dancers. Pakarena basically is a picture of Makassar women behavior and guidance. It has numbers of kinds, e.g: Pakarena Samboritta (means friendship. played when the guest arriving), Pakarena Ma’biring Kassi (means walking on the beach. Played during daytime), Pakarena Jangang Lea Lea (means rooster about to coockcarooo…. played at early morning), etc
