PAKISTAN AIR FORCE, YACHT CLUB, KARACHI

Korangi Creek as a Base was established by the Royal Air Force in 1923. Located in a beach area of Karachi, the primary role of the facility was to provide the embarkation and disembarkation facilities to the RAF and other British personnel arriving by civil or military amphibious aircraft and also to handle receipts and dispatch of cargo on these aircraft.
In 1942, the RAF leased an area of 1,007 acres (4.08 km2) from the Government of Sindh and the station premises were then properly secured with a perimeter fence. Korangi Creek also served as a logistic base for the aircraft repair depot at Drigh Road through the supply depot there.
In December 1949, it was decided to make Korangi a technical training base for officers and airmen of the PAF inaugurated by Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan.
In 2019, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chief of the Air Staff PAF unveiled the plaque of PAF AIRMEN ACADEMY.
In 1983, then Flight Lieutenant Shahid Baig considering the presence of a working Jetty and a slipway left by the Royal Air Force proposed to the Air Chief the idea of developing a Sea Survival School for the fighter pilots of PAF. In short, the Sea Survival School started operational Sea survival training for the fighter pilots., The school became the only and first Sea Survival School and Flt Lt Shahid Baig was named as the Officer Commanding of this school. During the same time, to provide exposure to the sea through water bond sports, the PAF Yacht Club was established.

Please call (92-21)35090243. If you are close to PAF Base, Korangi Creek, you may go to the Guard room with a valid personal ID you will be allowed to go inside as the Yacht Club has a separate entry point.
