This influence dates back to Pakistan's inception in 1947, with the military inheriting substantial resources and control. The military's dominance grew due to perceived threats, leading to interventions in politics. The military's involvement in politics intensified over the years, impacting power transitions and shaping Pakistan's political landscape. The military has played a dominant role in Pakistani politics since the country's inception in 1947. The military inherited a large and well-equipped army from the British, and has used this power to intervene in politics repeatedly, directly ruling the country for over 30 years through military coups. The military's influence has become deeply entrenched, with the army receiving a disproportionate share of the national budget and resources. It has manipulated elections, supported or removed civilian leaders, and blurred the lines between civilian and military domains through institutions like the National Security Council and intelligence agencies like the ISI. Despite promises by former army chief Bajwa to stay out of politics. With the main opposition party PTI facing a crackdown and its leaders jailed or in hiding. Overall, the military remains the most powerful political force in Pakistan, with civilian politicians often vying for its support or being undermined by its interventions.
