Prof. Misra ji kindly elaborate how Kargil was brilliant "tactical" from Pakistan army. Simple army rules is first and foremost to consider what is main objective, if you feel in terms of cost-benefit analysis at details, then plan the strategy to achieve the main objectives. And to achieve the goals "strategies are planned" which in piecemeal manner through tactical methods are used. To illustrate during second WW-II, Russia against Germany decided to allow them to enter considerably waited for the winter and then attack was the long term strategy. And then when to use the combination of artillery and infantries and cutting of the enemies supply chain was tactical part worked out successfully.

It is sad that Pakistan can attack India and the brave soldiers of India respond and win the battle. And Pakistan goes Scott free. Pathetic. I saw on KZbin that Mussharaf in March 1998 spent time at Kargil. Not only that Mussharaf is a hero in India where India Conclave invited him and he said he had no regrets about Kargil. India clearly did not monitor Kargil during winter which is a blunder but the LoC is long and it is impossible to monitor the entire LoC. We do not need any more Kargils.
