Welcome back to Pakistan! In this video, we have a very special experience and meal to share with you! We will be visiting a rural village in Punjab province to experience what Pakistani village life is like. You are not going to want to miss this one!
We started in Gujranwala for breakfast, eating Hareesa. This is a local favorite from Gujranwala and is made from boiled wheat mixed with mutton, spices and desi ghee. The dish is so rich and will fill you up for hours! It was also imperative to have a hot cup of tea before our drive to the village, so we stopped at a local Kashmiri chai wala. Kashmiri chai is so striking because of its pink color. It is made by boiling green tea leaves for a long time. Sodium bicarbonate is added to the boil, which reacts with the leaves to produce a light pink color. After boiling, milk is added as well as cardamom. Depending on your preference, you can add as much sugar or salt as you’d like! Kashmiri chai was a culinary highlight for us in Pakistan.
We arrived at the Punjabi village in time for a celebration - filled with dancing and traditional folk music played on the Dhol. Although we were told that these types of celebrations were customary for many occasions, including weddings, we had never experienced such an electrifying celebration. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences in our travel history. The community was kind enough to cook us saag, which is a mix of green veggies including spinach cooked with spices served with roti. It was the BEST saag we have tried yet. We are so thankful to the village community for hosting us.
After saying our goodbyes, we hit the road toward Islamabad and arrived late at night, hungry for more Pakistani foods. We visited the very famous Savour Foods to try chicken pulao. Pulao is unique because the rice is cooked in a rich stock. Each grain of rice is fully infused with broth. The pulao is topped with chicken and shami kebab to bulk up this dish, and served with raita on the side!
If you would like to travel to Pakistan to experience amazing food, hospitality and more, we recommend planning your travels with Manaky!

We would like to thank Manaky for making this food trip to Pakistan possible!

Big hands down to the people of Pakistan. They've been through alot from past two decades from Afghan refugee crisis, drone strikes and cross border terrorism which I can't even imagine any country can survive but the people Pakistan showed their resilience, despite all these crisis you will still witness pure smile on their faces, hospitality and respect to anyone.

It is definitely a cultural shift from the west. The men feed the animals and do the outdoorsy stuff. The women cook and clean. You saw the woman coming in the video. Stereotypical but that happens in the west too albeit at a lot less level. Kids are kids too while the boys are out and about the girls are probably playing with the dolls 🤷🏻‍♂️. Yes very less mixing of the gender. But it has been working out for them for generations. Keep in mind this is the village life. The cities are somewhat less conservative. Benazir Bhutto which I am not a big fan of was one of the worlds first democratically elected woman prime minister. Where is the west with that?

@@debbieebbiebobebbie it depends where you are. You can find women in the family section of restaurant, in the cloth and beauty products market's. Normally women do shopping in the evening. In Pakistan generally you don't took video or pic of any girl or women without permission. It's a sign of respect. Pakistan infact is the first Muslim country in the world having women prime minister Banazir Bhutto, yet USA is not having women president. Pakistan is having first women national assembly speaker. Pakistani women working in army as a soldier, fighter pilot, doctors.. they are working in schools , college's, fashion and TV industry. We have amazing music industry with hundreds of women singars. Nazia Hassan Asian first pop singar was from Pakistan. We have women police station, women universities, the first women banks. We have separate and coeducational institute.. girls or women can chose as they want...

From woman to woman a question to you Sabrina: did you get some acess to the women whilst in Pakistan (for example in the village in todays episode) ? Myself, I often got invited into "women or very close family only parts" of the household (and my partner not), which I found very rewarding.

From one woman living in Pakistan to another.. Women are everywhere and working in every place but you don't see them in these old style food places and kiosk stall of old city markets because those are generally where construction labourers etc sit and eat.. U go to any mall store fast food place it's all women managing.. I'm a practicing psychologist and I enjoy the same life and freedom I did while I was in Canada.. In fact I have more luxury and help here

I saw a young girl in the background in one frame. There is a chance these guys were asked not to film the women, as you saw with that one lady who was covering her face while cooking. They were probably watching the festivities from the rooftops and windows, men and women don't normally mix in traditional villages like these.
@DonnaMSchmid
@DonnaMSchmid 3 жыл бұрын
@@annuncreates5962 I agree... But that's part of the story! My comment wasn't meant to be a criticism. Sabrina could, I'm sure, converse with the women and then tell us that the women are shy, or for religious reasons prefer not to be filmed, or WHATEVER the reason give us a description of the "other half" of this village! The "norms" for an area may be very different from country to country, or even from town to town. I'd love to hear about them!

Awesome video Even being born and bred in the UK with Pakistani heritage (my parents originate from Lahore before moving to the UK in the late 60s), the street food in Pakistan is just incredible. I haven't visited my parents country for a while since I have spent my time travelling to other parts of the world like SE Asia, Far East, North Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Med countries, Islands in Indian Ocean, USA and Caribbean but I am overdue a visit to Pakistan. My parents have been there 4 times in the last 5 years visiting relatives and touring
