@@Rose-Jackie You feel that way because you probably only speak one language English. That is not the case with most part of the world. In India, for example, it is common for a person to speak 3-4 languages. Like Hindi, because it is the official language of our Capital City. English because it is the official business language. Then a local state language. Then there are many people who would have moved around in different states and learnt the state languages of those states as well, for work. Now about the names. I am from Kerala, so I am Vivek. If I were from Bengal, I would be Bibek. Both are correct, mean the same & come from the same root word. Even the very traditional names, say for example Prabhakaran - That will be a name of the person from Kerala in the local language Malayalam - it would be the same in Sanskrit as well. But in North India that name will change to Prabhakar (you see the end part changed). In Tamil Nadu or in Sri Lanka it would change to Prabhakara (again change in the end part). You see, the root of the name & the meaning is not changing but the spelling & pronunciations changes depending on the location. Same thing with the name of the State. It would be called Kerala by the locals, but some North Indians would call it Keral. In fact, the Malayalam name for the state is not Kerala but Keralam which comes from conjugation of the words "Kera Eelam" which would roughly mean Land of the Coconut trees (while some believe it is named after a ruling family the Chera Eelam meaning the Land of the Cheras) Hoping that clarifies your confusion.
