Good to see Air India is back with Tata’s. I am fully confident they will turn Air India profitable in 3-5 years. Biggest asset is lucrative routes in Northern America, Europe and Middle East. Air India is flying non stop service from San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Toronto with packed flights to Delhi and Mumbai. Only issue is old planes and poor customer service, which definitely will change in coming months. Tata will give big challenge to United, American, Air Canada and I guess Delta who also run non stop flights to India from North America.

Govt servants have no idea of how to run one of the most difficult businesses in the world - where you have to have high cost assets ( aircraft) and high cost fuel ( Jet fuel) and there is no guarantee you can make profits unless you are quick and nimble! AI is the case of paper pushes handling real hard assets and never the twain shall meet!

Government has not sold huge land assets of AI which have gone AAHL and so govn will cover more from that its looses.Again 30K cr worth of routes tata gets so if they play right they will recover soon .AI always had very good manpower a little less interfernce will make it shine and anyway india needs atleast 1000 more aircrafts in skies

Govt sector me main issues is financing,and maanagement,, finance clearance kayi department se hokar guzarta hai, jaldi koi clearance nhi milta,, aur rahi baat management ki, govt companies me competition kam hone ke karan, management effective aur efficient kaam nhi karta,,,

Government PSUs sirf wahi hi profitable hai jaha uska monopoly hai. Jaise hi market me uska competitor aata hai. PSUs ko loss hone lagta hai. Aisa is liye, kyu ki government PSUs ko chalate hai, wo government ke Civil Servants hai. Wo administration karne me expert hai. But business karne unko nahi aata. Agar business karne achhe se aata hota to, wo government ke liye job kyu hi karte. Wo to apna business start kar ke khud amir bantte. Aur aisa nahi hai ki private companies zada expensive hoti hai, customer ke liye. Infact most of the time ulta hota hai. Air India ka tkt zada costly hai, as compared to Private budget airlines like Indigo, Go Air etc. Jio ka plans BSNL(government companey) se sasta hai. Jab market me bahut saara private players rahata hai. Tab unka services cheap ho jata hai. Kyu ki unke bich competation laga rahata hai. ki kun zada customer ko attract kare ga. Uske liye companies try karti hai ki unka service uske competitor ka service se cheap ho aur achha bhi ho.

Hi, there is a reason, much to our dislike, for state enterprises to crumble before market forces. In units majority-owned by governments, there is no system of accountability. The staff and the management believe everything is working in the auto-mode. Losses occur, but you have auditors to tinker with the accounts. Result: massive hidden losses. This is sad because it shows the government just doesn't bother about the tax payer's money. In private enterprises, the stress is on the economic part of the business. The 'lala' has to see the bottom line in the balance sheet: the profit part. That's again sad. Because in the race to get profits, several important aspects are thrown out; one of them is the human part of it. Hire and fire becomes a norm, job security is lost and an unseen pressure mounts on everyone working in the enterprise. The point here is building an enterprise where an employee should say: 'this is mine' and there is a good bond between the management and workers. This is easier said than done. Regards
