He's actually explained the plot of the poem "padmavat" written by 15th century sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi on which the film is based as per Bhansali's claim.He mentioned in the act that the Rajput oral history is a bit different from this. As per the historians or the academics the character Queen Padmavati is nothing but a myth and only came into existence in 1541 through the poem which was simply a work of fiction.

Actually, the movie is made according to the novel of padmaavat and that's why that name, that's why that i was removed so that people don't get confused with the stories of two novels of the same Queen. What actually happened was that when Alauddin (maybe my spelling is wrong) attacked, Raja Ratan Singh asked for help from the other king and this was exaggerated as war in the other novel and the story of the parrot was an exaggerated version too. It was added to add more grace in the original story. Moreover, it's not about a Hindu or Muslim touching the Queen. It's just that someone else wanted to touch the Queen, someone who was not the king wanted to touch someone who represented her state. That's why the fight. Marathas and Marvadis are known for fighting and they deserve a salute for it. If you have seen the film, Raja Ratan Singh says that the one who keeps fighting even after his head gets cut off is a true marvadi and Gora's body was still fighting after his head was cut. Just try to understand the beauty in it and no, I'm not a marvadi but I respect them because somewhere in their history, they fought for themselves just like Marathas did and it needs a lot of courage. I still don't understand why they say this story is a work of fiction because believe me, it's not. This is something that used to happen in India all the time. This story can't be fictional at all but well, let them believe what they believe. I can't interfere 🤷🏻‍♀️

The point in question was not a Hindu Muslim thing. It was about invasion, loot, plunder and simultaneously claiming the rights over the women of the region and putting them in harem. the story told by him is the real version of "padmaavat" written by malik Muhammad jaisi... and Rajput history is different... but bhansali had added new elements to the film.. the supernatural elements have been omitted in the movie.. and the last fight between khilji and rattan singh never happened... even according to rajput history... rajputs were enraged because of a rumour that in the movie, a dream sequence (kissing sequence) has been shown between padmavati and khilji...
