The R K Laxman is a great writer. Every episode was a separate short story. These were telecasted on Govt TV channel Doordarshan. You will be surprised to know that the film "Guide" was based on his Novel of same name, acted by the great Dev Anand and Wahida. His brother R K Narayan was famous cartoonist and worked with Times of India.

Malgudi Days are a bunch of short stories based in a typically sleepy South Indian small town/village named Malgudi. The story may or may not have a message but are always amusing, What makes the series interesting is to see the way people lived and went about their daily lives in these typical small towns. In 80's there was only one TV channel ie. Doordarshan but was full of quality and classic tv serial like "malgudi days" "Vikram aur betal" "buniyad" "Humlog " "spiderman ""yeh jo hai zindagi" and above all "chitrahar" .It's nostalgic. We have grown .

This was directed by Shanker Nag the great Kannada actor and director. This was shot in the lush green Western Ghats regions of Karnataka. The story dates back to British Raj, before independence. Malgudy was the name given to Agumbe one of the highest rain receiving areas in Indian subcontinent. We have watched every single episode of this serials. It was shot almost 40 years ago. But still absolutely matchless.

RK Laxman is the legendary cartoonist and Malgudi days is based on his cartoons. My childhood memories got refreshed. You must watch all the episodes. Every 80’s & 90’s kid remembers this show Wo zamana kuch or hi tha 😌😍

That's incorrect. RK Narayan and R K laxman are brothers. Laxman was the cartoonist while Narayan was a writer. Both of them being best in their own domains. Fun fact - "Mal-Gudi", the fictional town's name is derived from the 2 areas ( Malleshwara and Basavanagudi) in Bengaluru.

Malgudi days r based on a period set in a little town/ village where ppl saved everything. Esply Old generationns grew up in poverty and scarcity. The Oldman is a " Character" shown too miserly to convey a point. 😀 There r many beautiful simple innocent characters r seen in RKN's novals . Very hard to find such innocences I today's society. " Swami and friends " r my favourite by RKN. Capturing the ubiquitous village from past.

Un dino sirf cricket khelna aur raat ko is tarah ke drama dekhna, kya din the yaar, koi tension nahi. I am literally getting emotional. Us waqt mere parents bhi the, jo ab Bhagwan ko pyare ho chuke hai. Aise din dobara kabhi vapas nahi aa sakte. Legendary actor Harish Patelji, director Shakar Nag and writer R.K.Narayan.
