This year Rartha Yatra was conducted without any devotee, due to COVID 19. Last minute supreme court of India allowed to conduct it with conditions. Servitors of tribal descendent are allowed to conduct Ratha Yatra. They are only allowed to board the chariot. Lord Jagannath is another form if Lord Sri Krishna. He is worshipped along with his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra and his weapon Sudarshan.

Those who are above the chariot are the Sevadar or worshipper of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra... In Hinduism there is 4 holy book and they are Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sam Veda, Atharva Veda... Apart from this top book there are some books called Upanishads which are like the Guide books of 4 Vedas ...and Purana means the books which contains the rituals and history of the culture... Apart from all these books there is some other action packed history books like Mahabharata and Ramayana and Srimad Bhagbad Gita which is book contains the teachings of Lord Krishna

Everybody wants to touch the rope and pull the chariot which is considered very very auspicious. It is very hard to get to the rope as there are million people on that road called “bada danda” (not even one km long). The Jagannath temple is quite an old temple, built around 12th century.

1) I have heard that after the Rathayatra at Puri, the woods of the chariots are dismantled and used throughout the year as fuel for preparing Prasads and Bhogs (Holy Foods) in the Jagannath Temple. 2) The idols of Lord Jagannath and his brother and sister are made of wood and are replaced every twelve years. 3) Rathayatra is a popular Hindu Festival in West Bengal. The oldest of its kind is at Mahesh which is about 25 kilometres from Kolkata. It is about 635 year old. 4) Rathayatra is also celebrated in Kolkata, and towns like Guptipara, Mahishadal, Chandannagar, Uttarpara and other places.
