Big cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune etc apartment system jyada hai kyunki kaafi corporate offices hoti Hain jisme log jobs karte hai. Working class people prefer flats so that it is a nice gated community with all amenities. Also cities mein population jyada hoti hai so individual houses ke liye utni jagah nahi hoti. People prefer to stay close to their offices in nearby apartments.
