It is good to have cultural lesson. An important point is that there are so many ways to make macaroni salad. I just had one with celery, onion, and chopped olives with elbow macaroni.

I enjoyed seeing not only these lovely men's reactions, but I loved seeing their land as well! Flies are a part of nature in the fields/farmland, so there's really nothing you can do about it while eating outside, I'm afraid. My Grandfather ate every single noon meal outside, while he was working his fields - for over 70 years!

Pasta salad is common in my family in the summer months. While I agree with the flavor of yogurt and mayonnaise I typically make vinegar based pasta salads for max shelf life. Typically we use balsamic vinegar but I'm not opposed to apple vinegar. I may add mayo and yogurt day of eating. My family tends to make enough pasta salad for a week and we add meat when serving to maximize shelf life. In fact I just made sure to grab a small tin of salmon for my lunch pasta salad.

That's a solid choice. I love mayo but it spoils VERY quickly. When I'm away from refrigeration I 100% use vinegar rather than mayo.

@@user-ko5dz3yd7b oil vinegar based dressing seasoned. And while my family loves Greek style pasta salads I have to admit we tend to lean toward Italian. Oil/vinegar is simply more practical if you're working away from power like a big honking farm.
