When people say Pakistan was part of India, they mean that it was part of a civilisational entity called India. You might wanna read how Megasthenes and Strabo, Vishnugupta 2200 years ago have defined boundaries of India (Yeah I know megasthenes accounts are exaggerated, thats why i'm mentioning others as well).. Also not to forget Emperor Ashoka literally turned it into a political unit as well.

The boundaries kept changing every empire. There was never a single unified India. India was born on 1947. To be accurate, not even in 1947 because many of the states were still independent and had issues. If I’m not wrong, Goa, Hyderabad etc were not part of India yet. We must stop romanticising this notion of unified India. It’s only in our imagination and not based in reality.

Nope, if that was what you took away from the Nitish video, you are kinda biased. India the term was coined way before the British came, it's mentioned in the Bible too in Hebrew. The Persians used the term Hindush in 600 BCE and the Greek used the word India in it's writings in 500 BCE. The Bible referred to India as Hoddu. I am only citing the non-Indian records, the records of Bharatvarsha as an existence are even older, but obviously they won't matter to you.

If you go by the modern definition of state, no country existed before the treaty of westphalia in 1648, as the definition of modern nation was coined then. By that logic no england, no france, no japan nothing existed before that. But if we go by a civilisational definition of state all these countries trace a common lineage, common culture which makes them one. Same goes for India.

Check out Ashoka empire which is Ashokas India 200 BC unified under one leadership which spanned from afganistan to Indonesian areas....to British India which was also same zone but directly controlled by brits and smaller kings... so conceptually you can consider what you want to consider as India but it is all people originating around sindhu which is me or you.

The term bharat is mentioned in historic texts Sure there was no country obv but it was a civilisational unit, it was definitely a part of India or as the Mughals called it Hindustan (not the religion the river Sindhu = hindu or India ). The Delhi sultanate ruled from Pakistan till the south of India or in their words known as Hindustan.
