The commerce around princess Wilhelmina worked well. We still have the typical Wilhelmina peppermint with her portrait on it.

7:11 i don't think they mean native plants, they are refering to the plants that were placed during the garden renovation that was ordered by Louis Napoleon in the 17th century. The man tells they restored the garden to what it used to be in the 17th century and the french took different plants for their design to create the new garden. It seems this garden was lost. So in the 1970's they refound these gardens and probably found the leftovers of all these plants and replaced them with the same plants that were placed by the french in the 17th century.

Hey, great video. About what you said ( 19:25) "one of those places you tell your kids........" It looks like you can touch things, however. The moment your arm reaches over the wire an alarm goes off. (First hand experience....)

I am very proud of Het Loo Palace. I was born in Apeldoorn . And of course I have het Loo many times. And definitely go there again when everthing is ready. I have been living in Friesland for years now. But I still visit Apeldoorn many times. I still love the beautiful Veluwe very much.

*Note:* Willem III was stadtholder of the Dutch Republic, not king. When he visited Great Britain in 1688, together with his army, he took the English and Scottish crowns, and thus became king of Great Britain. Willem III, a later resident of the palace, was our fourth king. Prior to him were Willem I and II, and of course Lodewijk Napoleon, the French Emperor's younger brother who became King of Holland to rule over the Dutch in name of the Emperor, in 1806. Before Lodewijk Napoleon there never was a king that ruled over The Netherlands, except Philip II of Spain, but he ruled over all the Low Countries, The Netherlands + Belgium + Luxembourg. Even though the Dutch rebellion (Eighty Years' War) started with rejecting Spanish rule, for some weird reason the last line of the first part of the Dutch anthem still honours the King of Spain.

My wife and I have been there just before the renovations. And believe me, they were busy with the gardens, but 3/4 of it was already finished. Only the fountains weren't working. Inside a lot looked the same, but I see little differences now. It's a beautiful building!

Visited the palace in 2007. It was impressive. Especially when you realize that most of it was build by hand. The details up close are amazing, those craftsman built things to last!

Visited about 10 years ago. Beautiful place. The palace was really interesting, how the rooms all were connected, but loved the garden especially the part where the fruits were growing (apart/aside from the main garden) Back then making pictures inside was prohibited, but have some nice ones from the garden.

Oh wauw, I did a search to find something out and was a little shocked. "How old is USA now ? : Most historians emphasize the year 1776. It was the year that the soon-to-be United States of America declared its independence from British imperialism. This means that the United States will turn 247 years old on July 4, 2023."

Buxus can survive the leaf eating bug (with birds or other natural predators), but not the fungus that killed most of them in The Netherlands. But resistant species are being bred now. but besides that, hidden from direct public eye the gardens hosts many ecological tricks/improvements so that the showgarden and it's surroundings is a place where nature can thrive as well
