I actually think in premise Paladins Lore is very interesting, they discover crystals which hold immense power, which could be used to make peoples life better, UT like they show in the cinema are also very dangerous, the Magistrate is saying that the common folk should not hold such a power, that not everyone should have miniature weapons at hand, and the Paladins say that the good outweighed the bad and the crystals should be legal, so they start a war, weaponinzing the crystals just proving the Magistrate right. The problem with is that the Magistrate is so cartoonish evil that it doesn't work, they want us to sympathize with the Paladins so much that they don't even touch this point. But you also bring good points as : some of the champions individual lore is some what bland. But in the end Good Vid.

I think that both sides are equally as right in how they portray the dilemma to newfound technology. Such as the who invented dynamite to help with mining then to learn it was weaponized. Personally, I wishes that it showed both sides being equally right and wrong. That I hope that Lian isn't depicted to be a narrow minded tyrant, because I love Khan and hope their contribution to the narrative wont be so simple.

I have to agree with you that the conflict between The Magistrate and The Paladins is badly done. Not only because calling one of the groups Paladins sets people up for bias, it's also that the lore is obviously one-sided in what should be fairly equal opinions. One side wants crystals for everyone damned be the consequences and the other wants to regulate them so nobody dies from explosions or something. If you take just that, you could make good arguments for and against both sides. It's a classic setup and I don't think Hi-Rez was intending for a simple good versus evil setup for the game However, The Magistrate is pretty consistently demonized throughout their appearances. They were the ones who employ things like Terminus brought back from the dead, they are consistently depicted in darker tones with a lot of red, A lot of the more morally bankrupt people like Skye, or Vivian, and many of their members are depicted as either trying to advance up the social ladder like Lian, Vivian, and Fernando. Or depicted as soldiers simply following orders without caring for morals like Ash, Viktor, Khan, Lex, Etc. Not to mention that The Paladins side has many of the least scrupulous of the champions like Ying, Cassie, Sha-Lin, Talus, etc. Speaking of Talus, The Magistrate also has no non-humans on its side kind of... Implying some amount of racism towards the beastfolk (Or that they are destroying nature given that seems to dominate most of the non-human's backstories.) I for one hope we get to see at least a bit more nuance because even if The Resistance's motives are bad their actions are far, far less scruplous than that of The Magistrate.

Nice insightful video mate I think the paladins lore is very similar to the marvel civil war(comics) MCV : heroes should sign up to the government and follow their orders Paladins : Crystals should only be acquired by the magistrate MCV : those who did not want to be controlled by the government formed a resistance Paladins : those who disagreed with the crystal ownership formed a resistance also the reason why the magistrate decided on this act was based on horrible incidents that happened due to corrupt use of the crystals, And in the MCV a similar thing happened where America had a terrorist attack due to the actions of superheroes.

for the furia event i think the only reason hi rez used the drogoz skin is because in the lore cinematic you can see a Dragon/monster come out of the abyss and they just used the drogoz skin as filler for the event because they were too lazy to make a 2nd model just for the event alone that would probably never return and also the drogoz skin is a thing to probably just to signify on what the "king" of the abyss is in short the skin is really just filler and isn't cannon(its lazy, even for hi rez standers) the andro lore, I kinda wish it would say andro was cursed because he had to kill this god because (idk you insert something here) and then dooms him forever, but even then the lore you did for andro was better execpt i don't like the bit where the Nyx is andro, instead i think he kill her but on her dying breath she cursed him would sound better

I do agree with your points on the lore. I feel like *interaction* gives the lore a boost. I know a Recast in the voice lines will be costly but it'll satisfy the community. We get some death reactions and kill reactions from the newer champions to older champions but: *1. It increases the older champions backlog. Like why does this guy have a relationship with the other who we didn't get much info for...* *2. It makes no sense. Koga more rivaling Skye but he's after Zhin...* There's also some Idle voice lines giving more personality but that's not lore worthy... I would really dislike it if they exploit lore for advertisement. Hopefully if the Ninja patch can move to an Event next Content Patch will focus on Zhin being Koga's target and ACTUAL Gaurds as seen in the cinematic, unless there skins too. I first accepted the lore as a happy(well sad cause of OB64) - go - lucky guy but hearing such critism makes me more awake than ever. Hopefully each Champion or a group of Champions will have an even (with or without a champ) with a special revamp to their lore. Here's what I would LOVE to see. Creature Champions like Grover, Willo, Talus and others who are offended by the Magistrate (or a certain group) who wants to eradicate such races. Talus was wiped out a few times and Grover speaks about protecting the forest. So does Inara with The Mother... with Seige engines tearing the habitats down or something like that. Also fun fact: I spotted what seemed to be a Seige Engine in the Rise of Furia Lore video (where the guy drops Abby/Hannah's hair...) sooooo... is there something you need to tell us Dev team? Eh? Eh? 8/=3

KickUp HammyDude to be honest, lore is really just advertisement for all games. If you have a good backstory, the game has one more thing going for it. Now, while it would be great, i honestly don't think a recast for the voicelines will be done nor the lore de developed further. This is it. Or atleast until they ACTUALLY start caring about lore as an important element for the game. I mean, smite has lore and that took over 5 years to develop further.

Abyssal lord drogoz is only one lord, and Hi Rez confirmed that their is other abyssal lords, but the question is: when we are going to see Twilight, the main reason why I think Twilight is character is because seris mentioned in her voice lines that she a minion of Twilight, and she is not only one, she even talk about Twilight like he is a real character, and by the way the new lore was OK for me because I am not an old player, and I didn't knew about the old one.

Abdelmadjid yahia No I don't think twilight is a person. Twilight is the time between dawn and sunrise or sunset and dusk. If we take this into account, then lines like "Slipping... into... twilight." (leaving combat in low health) and "Into twilight you now go!" (Killstreak) make sense as the abyss is also described as a place between light and dark (i guess the abyss?). Anyways, I also did state in the video that voicelines aren't to be trusted as much as we once thought we could.

I think this just highlights the fact the team didn't have a proper vison of Paladins. Although I'm not sure if they do now, as I only recently started playing Paladins again. So I honestly don't know.

Paladins lore: There was chaos. Then there were Paladins who brought order. There was order, everyone is happy Then they found something. which lead to chaos There were people who wanted to bring order, but the Paladins are stopping them. Paladins are the good guys. I think Hi-Rez realized how the lore made the Paladins look like retarded anarchists so they trying so hard to make the Magistrate look bad, they forget that their fundamental conflict is flawed. Crystals are literal mini nukes, and that's what Paladins try to let everyone have for the sake of progress. I think progress with deadly objects makes more sense in a controlled environment.

Well if you wanna compare studio sizes, i'm sure Hi-Rez has far more employees than Digital Extremes, but if you look at Warframe, the devs are actually passionate about lore, the Leads making streams talking about how every piece of environment has a backstory and why it's the way it is they are actually excited about the lore, everything has a reason, and evidences behind it to back it why its the way it is. Now look at Hirez, they were basically forced to make lore just because the community begged for it for over a year, employees constantly made fun of people who talking about lore, both on twitter and on devstreams, until it actually happened. There was only one really passionate guy about lore, the ex lead art director Holt who left the company, and recently they do shit like "yeaa. fernando is gay." literally no evidence, they just throw it in for the sake of shock value, that's how much they care about their characters. Or i could name a bunch of games made by a really small studio which has an amazing lore (look at Undertale for example, i know people hate it for a lot of reasons, but it's lore actually has depth and interesting points to it, it makes sense, and doesn't contradicts itself pushing lore as a marketing only) Company size doesn't make a difference it's whether the company cares or not.

Nauron Warframe was released for a while now, has a bigger fanbase, and it's selling better. Hirez openly talked about losing money hence why they forced cards unbound and skins and items a bit pricey now. It's all about money.

the old classic lore is the main story, yes bland but magistrate vs paladins isn't the conflict it's paladins against other paladins and about your idea about Lex and Androx doesn't makes sense either for me if Androx abandoned his duty and took the highest bounty like Lex have skill "Retribution" and he is some sort of magistrates dog rather than an officer that Androx completely fulfills for being a pursuer again on Lex skill "In Pursuit" and about Androx being cursed thats where i agree you with being possessed or he's been used as a vessel like what happened on Seris and why Seris compliments him for like" The Abyss has treated you well, Androxus." No man can have the title "The Godslayer" never and why Androx does simple people saw him as a human but in reality a god/goddess possess him rather than ending his life. The Godslayer title gives only to a god whos kill other god (reference God of War). And Furia's lore makes it more sense how abyss live with a mortal body and why picking Drogoz as the Abyssal lord? personification of the abyss giving a humaniod look for a place. Jenos and Seris voicelines about abyss and void is a place rather than humaniod look itself.
