Greatest character in television history. Bar none, case closed. There has never been anyone to match the completely nonsensical behavior of Barney Fife. While this manic genius graced this show, there was nothing to compare to it. The show may been named for Andy Griffith but he knew who the real star was. So much of the show plotlines were tailored to Don Knotts incomparable talent. A situation comedy. And nobody ever encountered more situations than Don Knotts. Best ever by light years.

I was born in the mid 1980's. The andy griffith show is one of the greatest television shows that ever existed. When it was made television shows had less quantity but more quality. Now it's the opposite, more quantity of television shows but less quality television shows. Television currently is deplorable.

Barney's theory in the previous scene is that Weaver was stealing from his own store. Andy told him his theory was plain nonsense. That scene concludes with Barney asking Andy, could you let me have one look in the trunk of Weaver's car? That's extremely funny, as is this scene. Ben didn't seem to appreciate Barney's work in spying on the little old lady who was actually doing the stealing, and then arresting her, even though he should've waiting until she was outside the store, since she could say she was going to pay for the merchandise.
