Pertrosyan controlled the exchanges and the distance. I noticed he uses teeps and body kicks as his first line of defense as RVR closes the distance, then he uses boxing to set up the knees or leg kicks to exit at an angle, or simply clinch up. It's a pretty defensive strategy against a heavy puncher with aggressive forward pressure. Well done. I might adopt that strategy myself in sparring.

All these ppl claiming this fight and petrosyan to be boring have obviously no clue about the fighting game nowadays. Dayyum this is no streetfight-brawl kind of fight like ufc 1 was. This is pure skill and strategy at a perfectly executed and high level. If you're good at controlling the distance and not letting a in-fighter like RvR to get in, why would you not stick to your gameplan? Get your things straight, petrosyan showed absolute class. Congrats to RvR too, he did pretty well. But in the end the armenian-italian earned this!

this is more of a style battle than a battle of basics. they both have good basics, no one was more flashy. but petrosyan was able to impose his pace and his range to RVR's.

as the style dictates. I've been both a brute and a tactician, depending on who I'm going against. against a taller rangier opponent they want to keep it at long or close range (clinching since they're taller), and I wanna keep it at mid range so I gotta brawl my way in. If against a shorter guy I want the exact opposite, long range or clinch, so I'll be more technical and box on the outside.

say what you like about Petrosyan being a boring fighter but you cannot deny his technique is impeccable. He controlled that fight very well and was definitely well aware of Van Roosmalen s style of moving forward and creating pressure. Pushing was a good tactic to keep Van Roosmalen at bay but really it was his jabs and teeps that really worked the most effective. From there it was just clinical and a well deserved victory in the end.

Giorgio на высоте как всегда. Хотя в 3-м раунде я не совсем понял почему он так часто клинчевал. Разбирал вроде уверенно Русмалена. Наверное травма. А вот Русмалена ябы посмотрел против Замбидиса на пике))). Грек устроил бы рубку и в этом поединке я бы поставил на Майка))
