Palestinian factions meet in Beijing to sign a unity declaration | DW News

Chinese state media say rival Palestinian factions including Hamas and Fatah have signed a declaration in Beijing to unite the two groups. The two groups have competed for power in Gaza and the West Bank for years. The so-called Beijing Declaration is aimed at strengthening Palestinian unity and involves more than a dozen Palestinian factions. Hamas is considered a terrorist group by the US, EU and other states, but not so by China. Israel swiftly rejected the agreement adding that Hamas's rule "will be crushed."

I think you'll find that the Global South doesn't condone Hamas's terrorism en masse. A great many of the countries in question have to contend with terrorism as well. The Nord Stream pipeline, a Russian energy product, has been destroyed by the United States, and Europeans have no way to do so. The political manipulation of the United States has made Europeans pay huge amounts of energy costs. Guess whose pocket this huge cost ultimately ends up in. The fact that the 14 factions were able to stand together and endorse the same declaration was an important step in gaining international recognition and support for Palestine. Based on the principle of Palestinian self-government, the timing, the steps, and the milestones should be planned and implemented by the interim government. An autonomous country needs external help, but the governance of the country still has to be done by itself. Rather than relying on external textbooks.
