It’s kind of interesting seeing the different ways that people celebrate this, end it kind of reminds me of some of the dichotomies of how my family versus other families, celebrate Christmas. In my family, Christmas Eve is when we go out and do things outside the home, usually we go out to see the lights and go to mass, but we also have a big dinner as a family. But on Christmas day, we stay home and it’s just us.

At the end, we have christmas to celebrate the coming of Christ The Savior to the world. I don't see why we shouldn't celebrate it, as long as the purpose is pure and to thank God for His love, then why not. If you celebrate it or not is not important, faith and living in Spirit is more important. The same case about the food, like Paul mentioned in the bible.

@Eternal Fisherman I'm sorry you don't know what you are talking about. "In particular, conversion of the region's populations to Islam appears to have introduced major rearrangements in populations' relations through admixture with culturally similar but geographically remote populations, leading to genetic similarities between remarkably distant populations like Jordanians, Moroccans, and Yemenis. Conversely, other populations, like Christians and Druze, became genetically isolated in the new cultural environment." In conclusions, the authors reconstructed the genetic structure of ancient Levantines and found that a pre-Islamic expansion Levant was more genetically similar to Europeans than to Middle Easterners. **"The Druze people, a "genetic sanctuary" for the diversity of the Near East in antiquity, have been found in genetic studies to be the closest to Jews** of the populations in the Levant. Lebanese also cluster closely with Jewish ethnic groups, closer than Syrians and Palestinians" Family tree time (of the Levant): ALL Jews (Sephardi and Ashkenazi) genetically cluster in one branch; Druze from Mount Lebanon and Druze from Mount Carmel are depicted on a private branch; and Lebanese Christians form a private branch with the Christian populations of Armenia and Cyprus. Arab countries are only 40% Arab on average and Arabia is NOT the Levant.

Why do you celebrate in December even though jesus was born in the summer?
@marksimons8861
@marksimons8861 4 жыл бұрын
Putting aside the question whether Jesus was born at all, it does make sense that the Romans would organise a census in early summer (before the full blown heat hits, rather than the middle of winter. As another viewer has posted it can be snowy in the hill country,, including Bethlehem. Also mentioned is that Christmas is a pagan festival marking the winter solstice, and the sun (son?) starts to rise again three days later. A birthday can be commemorated any time you choose especially when the actual date is not precisely known.
@infinit3platin7m90
@infinit3platin7m90 4 жыл бұрын
It is because Christmas was designated by The Church to celebrate an event that goes beyond a simple "birthday" (on Earth). Those who ask this question forget or do not recognize what Christmas is really about. Therefore, it doesn't matter when it actually occurred in history because God is eternal and does not really have a "birthday".

What is being referred to by Jeremiah 10:2-4 is actually idol worship. Understand what it is saying. They cut the tree out of the forest and then they work the wood from the tree into an idol. Then they adorn it with silver and gold. The purpose of all that is to worship it. What is being referred to is not simply taking a tree and decorating it. If that was the case, this passage would mean it is wrong to take any wood and have it decorated including furniture. The problem is not taking wood from the forest, or decorating it, the problem is worshiping such thing.
