Palestinians living abroad say Microsoft unfairly closing accounts | BBC News

Palestinians living abroad have accused Microsoft of closing their email accounts without warning - cutting them off from crucial online services.
They say it has left them unable to access bank accounts and job offers - and stopped them using Skype, which Microsoft owns, to contact relatives in war-torn Gaza.
Microsoft says they violated its terms of service - a claim they dispute.
The internet is frequently disrupted or switched off there because of the Israeli military campaign - and standard international calls are very expensive.
Israel launched its offensive in Gaza in response to the Hamas attack on 7 October, which killed about 1,200 people.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 38,000 people have been killed in the war.

Why would they do that? "Would cooperate" with who? Could you be specific? If they are blackouting communications in any significant manner, does that mean that these palestinians are communicating with Hamas, not with relatives? Is that what you are accusing them of? Because it is either A) "they did nothing wrong" and in that case, Microsoft has no reason to block them. Or... B) Microsoft blocks them cooperating with (IDF? Netanyahu?) because they communicate with Hamas fighters. Pick One. You can't have both.

definitely a widescale practice of media blackouts,censorship and cooperation with governments. I had my google account shutdown because I was "inauthentic" then I lodged a complaint and had that reversed. I suspect it was due to moderation near the 2016 election. I spoke with a lot of people who were having accounts shut down who were political onine.

Okay I’m not instigating bias or prejudice in any way. But I think that the BBC needs to also gather the reports of people whom do not have any affiliation with Pelestino and have also been removed from Microsoft. Then they should investigate/interview those people and seek to determine their cause for deletion. Therefore, they have data to compare and then maybe determine if this is either a case of big tech fickleness, or undue discrimination. Either scenario is feasible yet I suspect the latter makes for better headlines.

All I said was that the BBC should investigate any and all users located within the opposite land concerning this unfortunate disagreement. Open a non-biased investigation researching any Microsoft accounts removed within the last 48-72 hours that have occurred within the “opposite land” of this situation. Then determine the reasons for their removal, all while building up a comprehensive database of information. Finally they should compare the results and then present a more accurate report that does not suggest undue bias or false positives. This comment may be deleted, again. Who knows!?
