Yeah, and when she was cast there was a lot of backlash about it even though her version of Starbuck turned out to be one of the greatest characters on television.
@ohioexpax15925 жыл бұрын
The backlash was from dummies like me: "What? Starbuck a GIRL? I'm not gonna watch it!" I finally watched it. I've been madly in love with Katee since then.

watched the original when I was a 10 year old. Had my reservations about both Starbuck and Boomer transitioning to female, but somewhere around the second, "whadaya hear", "nothing but the rain" during the Battle of Ragnar stations, Sackhoff had me. Everything she did with the role afterwards only made the role more her own. I loved Dirk Benedict, but I will always prefer Sackhoff's version.

Thing is it didn't used to matter if a gender got changed if it was awesome. Nowadays it's just for tokenism or virtue signalling. When BSG rebooted Starbuck as a girl I didn't give it a second thought.

Starbuck was so Katee Sackhoff's role. When I first saw the first episode, I thought she must be a lesbian in real life ,but no. After seeing her in interviews, she is quite feminine. What a great actress.
@BLEACH01Z12 жыл бұрын
I enjoy her real personality fairly well, but I agree that its her skill as a wonderful actress to make characters on a script have so much depth and personality, and she surely doesn't have a long great career ahead, which I think shes doing good on her part right now. Have you seen this show called ''Longmire''. Its a great new show starring as the secondary main character. You should really check it out, season 2 starts up early next year

LOL The original Starbuck actor has this pathetic blog called 'Starbuck Lost in Castration' & is really bitter about the new show (calls it unimagined) & the way the new character is not a man(because according to him women are simply castrated males). He goes on and on about he was oppressed by network execs b/c he could not play a womanizer, yet claims the new show has no morals. I think that particular irony is lost on him. Just read it if you can- its pretty funny actually.

Katie Sackoff really reprised Sheba (Anne Lockhart) from the old series, not Starbuck. Sheba was a kick ass fighter pilot, sure of herself, Apollo’s equal, rival, and eventually intended love interest. Calling her character Starbuck and pitting her against Dirk Benedict’s rendition was a masterful move by the producers to create controversy and internet buzz. Katie did a masterful job. All they needed to say was she was Admiral Caínes (Michelle Forbes) daughter and the circle would have been complete. That would have made for a great plot of mother daughter issues as opposed to the father daughter issues in the original series!!!!!

starbuck is one of the most annoying characters i've seen, and i like battlestar galactica, so i had to compromise on watching her character, was not easy. also the fact that the story treat humans and machines (that lack soul) as one. humans and machine will never ever be equal in real life, because machines will ALWAYS lack soul. no technology EVER NEVER will be able to invent a real soul that born into this world. these are 2 annoying flaws. still, a great series with lots of morals.
