So here's something interesting I've discovered. When using Preserves Jars, you can get just as much income per day from _carrots_ as you do from apples or blueberries. Each machine generates a bit over 2700 gold per day. And carrots grow super fast, unlike apples or blueberries. The only downside to mass production of pickled carrots is that you'd need to log in twice a day to reload the preservers.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
It’s interesting you bring up carrots because I was looking into production times (and I’m not super confident in my calculations for this) but it looks like seeded carrots make the most money per hour if you’re looking for speed. It’s so amazing how much depth gardening has!!! Thanks for the amazing conversations man!

When Palia first came out everyone was hyping up tomatoes as the best crop to grow and then they got a HUGE nerf. The funny thing is that potatoes had the same amount of profit as tomatoes, requiring a bit more work but didn't get nerfed and now Bok Choy is blowing that out of the water. This is the best time to level up your farming skill and the best time to earn money from farming. You're going to need to invest in quite a lot of seeders though since the seeding process is over 1 hour. I'm sure this will change with the next update so you're going to want to plant these as fast as possible before it's gone. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new best crop in Palia and what you think about my best layout!

what do you mean by "nerfed"?

Nerfed is when something is made worse. So in this case they could reduce how much the crops sell for resulting in a "nerf".

Amazing job @Aqajj. Keep up the greatness i tried your sheet. you are mostly right. The only problem is that we are bottlenecked by the Seed Collectors. I took the liberty of creating a mini excel spreadsheet setting as a center the Seed Collector and Bok Choy is the worst plant (due to it's seeds/minutes). Even with 30 Seed collectors, the max you could get from Bok Choy Seeds is 1500 gold / hour. it's at the bottom of the list with the worst gold outcome. The numbers (if we take as our center the Seed Collector Bottleneck) i get are as follows 1st Apple Seeds with Sell Price times Output at 700, crafting time 142' and SPO/m @ 4.9296 (8873.24 g/h) 2nd Blueberries with Sell Price times Output at 224, crafting time 81' and SPO/m @ 2.7654 (4977.78 g/h) 3rd Tomato with Sell Price times Output at 80, crafting time 30' and SPO/m @ 2.6666 (4800 g/h) in those calculations i do not account for the 3/2 tomato/seed yet. Friendly notice. If i got it correctly on your video, you class tomato as 3/2. do you take into account the 8 total yield per seed process? I think you should check your Seeds per crop. it's actually Seeds per 1 harvest in the tomato case. so, not 2/3 but 8/3 should be a more correct approach in my opinion. Once again Congratulations for the awesomly deep analysis you made on the crops. I'm not here to judge. I'm here to get help from a fellow scholar and to give help back! Dr. P.

@@DoctorPan92 Hey Dr P, Thanks for watching the video and leaving your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it. To address the first question about bok choy seeds. Initially this video was made without knowledge of the limit of crafters (seeders and preserve jars) so I just based it on value per tile. After many comments and opinions about how this was not accurate, I eventually developed a more advanced spreadsheet and did indeed find that the bok choy seed process is the worst if you are just selling processed products. If you're interested in seeing this data, you can see it at www.aqajj.net/palia-notes and view the Jun24 spreadsheet page. I think this one will give you more to learn from. As for the tomato seeds question, the seed ratio is 2 seeds for every 3 crops. This is then multiplied by the number of crops grown per plant, totaling 8, leaving you with a (2/3)*8 or a 16/3 in total instead of (8/3). This can be found in the i22 cell for a breakdown of tomatoes specifically for seeds. Thank you again for your kind words and the critique of the tomato formula. Always appreciated to make sure my data isn't flawed in some way. I do hope you check out the palia notes for the gold per hour data, I believe you will really enjoy it and it will allow you to compare your mini sheet to it. There is another video for this one that breaks everything down again as well. Let me know whether I answered all of your questions and I wish you the best of days. I had been doing bok choy for a bit but it got boring and idk how much gold i was making, I have watched a few videos and guides and i use the plot planner tool. However I think I am going to try a layout with 5 apple trees (1 in each corner and 1 in middle) then rest all bok choy. Then while I wait for apples I can harvest multiple rounds of bok choy. Then toss everything into seed makers and profit. Sell the Apple Jam as I get it. each tree harvest is 24 apples, so almost enough for a 30 stack per tree. hundreds of apples quickly. all star quality since i am at 27 gardening. the added benefit of bok choy is that it is a weed blocker also. so really to be most efficient i probably want to stock up on water retention fertilizer i think. Because I dont always play every day or long hours in 1 session this strategy is good but it really shines when can micromanage it more. the apple trees with harvest boost give you more bok choy also. Im at 27 gardening, I have a long ways to go for leveling it up a bit, so its another reason i wanted a fast good crop to grow so i can harvest and rake in the xp faster. the apple trees give massive xp gains on harvest but they take forever for each harvest, so the bok choy keeps the xp party going. For awhile I was planting massive amounts of nappa cabbage and that worked well, and then pickled those for cheap fast focus or selling them. They grow just as fast as bok choy. I have experiemented with mix of both or 60/40 split. just keeping the gardening xp going till i reached 25, but i'm a completionist and I want more levels, even if dont get any benefit past 25, its still good for the medals, and weekly quests. Really what this game desperately needs is an auto watering system like sprinklers. even if had to give up a spot or 2 in plot to keep whatever crop we wanted watered. although the appeal of gardening in palia is how diverse and varied combinations, so if took out watering i guess maybe would lose a bit of complexity. Or also need a wheelbarrow of fertilizer like 1 click for 4-6 spots at a time, or even load it up and then just run down your lanes to fertlize everything. this tossing 1 by 1 by 1 gets very tedius. I also wish it would give us timers above each plant or better indication on how much time got left. i swear sometimes my crops look like going to be ready the next 6am ding and need another round. It would be cool to have a little status window or menu showing timers or even a message on the side that says hey you have crops to attend to. something. And of course main thing is, more plots. i'd love to have multiple 9x9 plots. 1 just for trees. 1 just for slow growers etc. but then that would be to op, as gold totals would be so insane would need a ton of stuff in the game to buy or spend gold on. Lots of people sitting on more gold could ever need with everything all bought. need something to gamble our gold or invest it into something so gold has value again once you at that top with nothing else to do. maybe let us use gold for focus increase.

Interesting stuff! Are you able to keep up with seed production though? The gold per hour listed is actually "potential" and is limited by how many seeds per hour you can make in your seeders. If you are making 165 bok choy every 3 days you'd need 66 seeders to keep up and make the profit listed in a sustainable manner. Plus seeders for replanting the rice and wheat.
@HeadHunterSix8 ай бұрын
That's what I noticed, too. I sure wasn't making the kind of profits I do with apple preserves, even using the same farm layout as he does.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
This is a really good question! Yes, this and every layout is "potential" profit based on how you play the game but let's dive into the philosophy of this layout. The limiting factor in the game right now is the number of plots you can own (I'm not sure if there is a limit to crafters yet). Since that is the limiting factor that is what I am maximizing. Now yes, if you played Palia 24/7 with no sleeping and no life responsibilities getting in the way sure, there is a very slim chance you'd be able to keep up with this layout's earnings. But you have to think that seeders work for a long time even when you're not playing. So, if we are able to plant the best crop and even if it grows really fast sure it might just be stored in our chest for a long time but eventually we will get the payout of the 5,500 with almost no time put into the game. The 5,500 can technically be classified as "per hour grown" instead of a constant per hour because yes the seeds take a long time to process. But think about this like investments. If we work really hard for 6 hours to grow and harvest a bunch of crops, sure you wont immediately see 11,000 in your inventory, but with minimal work over the next day, you will. Meanwhile someone focusing on maximizing per process time is maybe making 13,000 but they have to put way more time into the game to keep the process going. Let me know if you've still got questions, this is how we improve!
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
What kind of profits were you seeing with this layout HeadHunter? And how did it compare to the apple preserves? I'd love to hear about your data :D

Okay, and I forgot about the "can I keep up with the production" question for me. I currently have about 20 seeders and with the extra offline time yes, I have been keeping up pretty well making about 100,000 the past week.
@HeadHunterSix8 ай бұрын
@@Aqajj I was only seeing about 1560 gold per day. Selling preserves might take a few days but I made far more money in the long run. I don't have specific numbers but it was a significant difference. Apple trees may take more space but it seems that their yield over their time to harvest ends up with a more profitable crop - and it's a lot more "hands off" as well. Not saying the bok choy seed idea is bad, I just wasn't seeing much income for the work.

The “Adjusted Profit” section of the chart is just to compare profits between different crops with different sized tiles. It doesn’t affect the seed vs preserve comparison for each crop. I’d love to hear your thoughts on why you think the preserves are better for Bok choy.
@pumpkinchween68528 ай бұрын
Mostly because i misunderstood the adjusted profit and also because in straight sell value preserves sell at a greater profit compared to crops. I haven't completed any research into whether or not there is a layout which produces more profit by using the harvest boost fertilizer however if you have a ton of extra harvest boost fertilizer and want to start by just farming bok choy in all 81 slots, that would generate more revenue until you run out of fertilizer. one thing i think that could affect your profits are the use of worm bins. I'm not super clear on the numbers, but i reckon a few of the preserves would be worth more than seeds if you have enough worm bins. I don't know if bok choy would be better as a preserve once processed with worm bins.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info! I haven’t done much research into how much profit the work bins can make but this definitely makes me want to test it out and see if there is an improvement! If I find anything useful I’ll see about making a video for it.

Processing preserves through worm bins generates more funds at the end, but at the cost of additional time, which reduces your overall profits in the end. For instance, starred apple jam yields 144 gold in 76 minutes (1.895 gold per minute), and while running it through the glow worm farm yields 155 gold between the worms and the fertilizer, it takes 136 total minutes, reducing your income to 1.14 gold per minute. So, would you rather earn 1.90 gold per minute, or 1.14? Seems like an easy answer.

I'm a little confused by the first part. If you were to create it on the garden planner and tag me with it in the palia discord I'd take a look at it. As for your second part, these numbers are profit after putting it in the seed maker not taking into account how long it take to process as it depends on how often you play. When I was running this back in february I had about 18-20 seed makes and playing 3-5 hours a day was a really good pace to keep up with the output. Let me know if this answered your questions or let me know if you need any other explaining. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts, I have a new spreadsheet coming out eventually that goes way more in depth on this topic.

@@Aqajj As in you have 3 by 3 plots. What if you rearranged them into a different shape instead of a 3x3 big square and instead went into two rows of 4 plots and 5 plots respectively. Would that allow for better combinations? I don't understand the match as well as you all do, so was more wondering why the 3x3 works better than the 2 rows of 4 and 5 plots.

Do you know if this layout still works after 0.180??
@Aqajj5 ай бұрын
The only things changed with gardening were the apples/blueberries and the worm farms so this should still be good! I’ll be using it again on stream in a week now that the gold cap has been raised.

Ok but how are you guys remembering where to plant what? Seems time consuming even if you have a printout
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
Once you plant it once, just harvest each crop type 1 by 1 and you don’t have to remember anything. I might make a video going over planting the layout if you’re interested.

i'm new at the game, how do i grow apple trees?
@Aqajj3 ай бұрын
You will be gifted a seed once you reach level 10 in gardening and you can buy more for medals at the guild shop. Then it uses a 3x3 area and you can seed 10 apples for 1 more seed to replant.

Just came across this video does it still work with the update ?
@Aqajj4 ай бұрын
The update to the worm farms doesn’t affect this and the prices of crops didn’t change so everything should work as expected still.

So we’re supposed to sell bok as seeds then right?

Yes

Why no link to the spreadsheet?

It wasn't originally built on a shareable account. I have since moved it and you can access it here: aqajj.net/palia-notes and this video's data is under Feb24 Farming Data. Thanks for reminding me about it!

Why not make all bak choy. And just glow worm farm to create harvest boost.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
I haven't done much research into the amount that the worms produce. I'll have to take a look into that and see what the increase would be.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
Ok, so after some quick data crunching, it looks like if you were to plant 73 Bok choy and 8 potatoes you could increase profits by 0.6%. But you must pickle the potatoes before going into the glow worm farm. This would be sustainable however I think it would stop working if you harvest the layout too quickly. Not sure it’s exactly worth it for all of the extra effort though.

This must have been nerfed because this is way wrong. Star Bok choy seeds are 22g amd the actual star bok choy is 45g. Star potato are 67g each.
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
I encourage you to put a star quality Bok choy in a seeder and see what the value of all the items that come out after 1.2 hours. I think you will learn a lot!
@TheDragonWhimsy8 ай бұрын
Each Bok Choy crop is worth 4 Bok Choy seeds when they come out of the seed harvester. So they're worth 60 gold each, not 22.

Do you have a Palia Garden Planner for this?
@willterdesamparado14718 ай бұрын
also we should sell the seeds?
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
Yes, if you refer to the colorful chart you’ll see that the best method of selling these crops if by seed. Also, here is the planner: palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.2_DIM-111-111-111_CROPS-BkRWBkBkBkRBkBk-BkBkBkBkRBkBkWBk-WRBkBkBkBkBkBkR-WBkRBkBkWBkBkR-BkBkBkBkBkBkBkRBk-RBkWWBkBkRBkBk-RBkBkWBkBkBkBkR-BkWBkBkBkBkWBkW-BkBkRBkBkWRBkBk Holy Moly it’s a long link 😂😂

Yeah, farming did not get updated in the economy update and the lettuce seeds have to value currently. I am back to using this layout myself even.

Hello mate. Which fertilizer should I use for this layout? I'm gardening lvl 13
@Aqajj8 ай бұрын
I don’t really use fertilizer too much to know a lot about how it works in terms of results but if I was going to choose one I would choose the quality boost (QualityUp I think it’s called) to increase your chance of getting quality crops until you reach level 25. Or if you really don’t like the small amount of upkeep required you can go for the water retain/weed prevention ones.
