I very strongly recommend creating 5 palamutes who together will have all the 35 skills, and then just send them on buddy recon and never touch them again. You then never have to care about not losing access to a skill if you overwrite/dismiss buddies. Palamutes are preferable as you get 35 of each type of buddy, and you realistically need a minimum of 10 different palicos, but only 2 palamutes.

Josh made one for Base Rise I feel like there isn't much of a change for the build for Sunbreak. I think you use either 2 Attack or 1 Attack and 1 Bomber palico hit Use The Felvine every time its available then sit back and enjoy the carnage

@@CalebCross253 It's changed significantly, if you want best DPS You want to Two of the same type now, because cats are now affected by dango buffs, for example you want Weakner Obviously, but you'll also want Dango Booster, which buffs attack and defense alot at rank 4, but for Bombardier cats, their main source of dps is not physical or ranged attacks but tbe spamming of Mega Barel Bombs, Wyrmstake, Beyblades, and Fireworks.

If you run something like mushroommamcer and don't have free meal yet, taking a palamute is brilliant as the extra pouch space lets you carry & use extra mushrooms that you find around the map. It's super useful! Also, guarding parasol on palamutes is better than the chain. If your buddy has the counter ability using the parasol to block will counter the monster with some extra damage.

Note that there are 35 total Buddy Skills, and each buddy can store 8 Buddy Skills. When learning a skill, it's copied from the teacher onto the learner, but the skills of the teacher remain intact. Which means in order to always have access to all of them without worry you can store every skill on as few as 5 "mules".

I looked at this again it it turns out that the 6 Special Buddies can't have their skills changed, and between the 6 of them they have every original Buddy Skill other than Critical Up (S) and Deflagration Relief. Since there are 12 new skills, you only have to store 14 skills on mules, meaning two mules with all 12 of the new unlock skills and those two original ones between the two. Since the Special Buddies are tailor-made for locking into Argosy and Meowcenaries (since you can't edit their skills), this works out nicely.

I find that Guarding Parasol and Blitz Scroll works best for applying statuses fast for the dogs, the Guarding Parasol has the spinning multi hit attack and the Palamutes are pretty good at blocking with it, meaning they survive longer and don't have to take time off to heal as often.

Parasol for applying status is great. Blitz doesn't synergies that well with the parasol, imo. When you use silkbind attacks or when it procs on its own, the attack speed of your paramute is fixed.

Tbh, buddies sent to Argosy with backroom negotiation letters just bring those corns in heaps - literally, I have over 70 of them. Same goes for lagianaples, and trap tools....lol, and bhermastones and whatnot. I have to clear Argosy box after each 3 quests now.

You also get them from the palico amiibos. I don't see enough people talk about the amiibos in Sunbreak but they're pretty good. I don't have the Sunbreak ones but the base rise ones are really good.

Personally, I would love to have some nice figures either from base Rise or Sunbreak, but those that I am seeing now are way too overpriced.

Pretty sure the default 'best' buddy skills are Status Atk Up (obv), Support-centric (faster/more use of support skills), Melee-centric (melee attacks do more status), and Buddy Partbreaker (especially if you're running Blood Rite).

You recommend status buddies but fail to mention that guarding parasol plus blitz scroll for the palamute will make it easier to proc status effects. Parasol does multiple hits while blitz scroll raises attack speed.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but one of my favorite reasons to have a palamute around is so I can mount up and sharpen my weapons or possibly use other consumables while on the move.... whether it's while chasing down the monster or even in the middle of the fight.

the palamute silkbinder has a rappid fire that fires 4 shots that does piecing damage I try to build around it and the palamute in general to get the most of the gear when it's active

Change palamute elememtal up and attack (s) for Status Up.. Since you try and PROC status.. I use Ranged-centric, Pierce-up, status up, partbreaker and Knockdown king on mine.. With gun and heal-scroll

I'm still using my Attacker + Bomber combo from base Rise but it's so much stronger with these changes. I have my Attacker set up as a mix of damage and support, while my bomber is set up for pure damage. Did the MR30 Urgent Quest the other day, and my Bomber threw a boomerang that hit for a total of about 700 damage just by itself. Buddies are good!

The sleep status is kind of useless nowadays... no one, neither on PC nor on switch is actually sleep bombing any more :X even GS dont do wakeup attacks thou bringing a poison or a blast weapon arent that bad of an option either the poison will do a lot of free dmg as the first 2 triggers are easily achievable and blast can synergies a lot with buddy part breaker so you get an easier flinch or 2 and more importantly if you are running malzeno gear you get vampiric easier

Can confirm with the lack of sleep bombing. I joined a Gore hunt not too long ago, and put it to sleep with a sleep toad once the feelers came out, only for my teammates to continuously hit it while I'm putting bombs down... I guess they didn't want any sensors.

I usually play with people so I am usually with just my palico who I have fully kitted as a healer type to help both the team and myself because as a lance player you can take quite a lot of block damage in master rank and I'm running sinister magnamalo armour so my defense is lower but with the damage I output and the dps uptime I can achieve with lance it more than makes up for not having as much damage on my palico

For the palamute, K.O. scroll + K.O. champion(skill), and the silk-bind ballista are my preferred gear options. The heal doesn't heal much and I'd need to be close, so it's something i'll not make consistent use of--also, it's less useful as I get better at the hunts since I'd be getting hit less. The palamute damage itself isn't amazing, so I get more overall dps by holding down the monsters.

Capcom is aware of this bug, but I want to point out that currently the lottery box does not cause the palico to simply use a random ability, it actually physically randomizes your palicos middle three moves and then uses one of them, thus causing your palico to suddenly have all the moves you gave them be swapped out at random permanently (Or until you go and physically swap them back put at the buddy dojo)

Can a Gathering Palico steal high rarity items like Mantles/Plates/Gems etc? I've played MH since FU and I can't remember a Cat ever stealing something amazing. I think pilfering is kind of overrated since its usually junk like Scales they nab.

Palamutes can do many things that can benefit the hunter that even the Palicos can’t do. For starters, Palamute can offer the hunter lots of mobility since you ride them so you won’t waste stamina and wire bugs, being able to sharpen your weapon without being a sitting duck, and Palamute can combo alongside you when fighting monsters on top of the silkbinder holding monsters in place. Overall Palicos are great at being supportive teammates while Palamute are awesome at being rideable teammates that can fight alongside you.

palamute right now are definitely better if you want a healer. by giving them the healing blade scroll and the buddy skill that applies healing to themself to the hunter as well you can basically end up being invincible for as long as the scroll lasts. by far better than the occasional elemental blight or trip the cats apply

There is no way 1 move is better than a healer palico with up to 4 healing moves, especially the clover bat. In a solo hunt with 2 healer palico and theres no way you can die

Nah dude. The clover bats give you crazy regen for a solid 60 seconds or something. It’s nuts. I only have one and I get it like once ever five mins. Plus the other healing skills it has. Not to mention with my gathering Palicos are really good at getting my mantles and gems for me.

@@yes78 palico moves have short lifespans and of you were to use a healer palico you'd be putting yourself at a disadvantages in the first place. healing blade scroll lasts for really long time and you don't need to do anything to benefit from it like you need to do with all palico skills except the lv 20 healing one. also it goes without saying that you will also get the other benefits a palamute beings, sharpening, riding, sniffing out specific things, the umbrella to block attacks and the like. i think if you sum them all up it easily outperforms a healer. you can even reduce gear cooldown to have a really high uptime of the scroll

@@horneytoaster4773 that's true that the bats have really good power and after testing some more i will say that palamute heal is not as strong as i initially thought. mainly because palamute attacks not as aggressively as i wish they did. i still stand by my believe that they can rival palicos. i always preferred the palamute way of healing over palico, but that might he bias
