@KeepOnTheRightPath I live well below my means and have worked hard my whole life. I truly look at the value of things before buying. In 1990, working as a labourer at 10$/ hr, I saved 10k in 1 year. I think most people confuse needs vs. wants. Many feel the $1200 iPhone, the Netflix subscription, and the $6 Starbuck coffees are needed....not wants. Perhaps it's a difference in generational thinking. On the homes.... My personal feeling is that many people got sucked into FOMO overpaying for a home and blindly thought 1.5% was a standard 5 yr rate deciding to max out their leverage. The reality is the 5 yr historic average rate is about 7.5% if you look at the last 70 years. Sucks for people to be stressed, but I think many have themselves to blame to some degree. Certainly, gov mismanagement plays a massive part too.
