Palladium from ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) - recovery and refining

Pyrometallurgical extraction of palladium from ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). Pd is recovered by smelting of the capacitors with lead and silver followed by cupellation. The resulting Pd-Ag alloy is then dissolved in nitric acid. Further palladium is refined and precipitated using formic acid.

Чтобы потерять часть металла в глёте? Надышаться ядовитыми парами соединений свинца? @@stevebad100 There's no simple answer to your question. If they are of certain type and with certain markings one can tell the composition and quantity by simple search on google , for the rest... XRF, cupellation or chemical test are the options.

Wait a minute now what kind of MLCCs are those exactly, they don't (from that first initial glance we were shown when you began to start incinerating them) I'm in the states. These appeared to be those other types of ceramic capacitors with two legs on them standing upright when mounted on a PCB. I'm accustomed seeing exceedingly tiny components that has the brown/light brown/dark brown/gray/white/and occasionally silver color tops with distinctive soldered ends at 2 sides, in the shape of being primarily rectangular, although square also exist.

These are Eastern-Block produced high-performance MLCCs of the 1960s-1980s. The USSR had plenty of palladium available, so they used it to increase capacitor performance. As far as I know, Western capacitors didn't use palladium (at least as much as the soviets did).

don't know about oxalic but you can do it with formic acid

Congratulations for the video, but if the pH reaches 7 or exceeds it begins to precipitate, along with the reduced metallic palladium, all the hydroxides of the base metals that the solution has as a contaminant.

Not all but many, that's why pH 6 is somewhat critical - the Pd is precipitated with only a fraction of the silver

Привет,не много не понял ввиду цвета из азотнокислого при помощи дмг восстанавливал, цвет слишком тёмный получился на глиоксимат Pd не похож, но возможно я ошибаюсь?Со 173гр материала- 2 гр вышло)))Спасибо за видос было интересно)

Я не использовал DMG, я использовал гидроксид калия для осаждения оксида палладия из азотного раствора. После этого растворяют гидратированный оксид палладия в соляной кислоте. В конце я осаждаю палладий муравьиной кислотой.

the weight of the beaker is 58.63 and the weight of the the beaker with the dried Pd powder inside is 60.56 from there you can get the weight of the Pd: 60.56 - 58.63 = 1.93g Pd
