I was fortunate to be a member at Pallington lakes when Simon brought this innovation to light. We all fished in different parts of the lake and we all caught fish, we all know there's hot spots on lakes and that alone speaks for itself. At the end of the day it's a weight and does the same job as a lead but with so many more advantages. I've used them ever since they've been out and very rarely I blank. It's just such an advantage to our fishing. As Simon said they're Porras and they take on flavour, but the other advantage, you can soak them in your local water so there is no unnatural smells surrounding your hook bait. It's a win win and for the environment to if you are dumping your weights. Absolutely non toxic. We're all protecting the environment these days and when I see lead after lead being dumped I can't think of the future consequences. Maybe not in our lifetime, but surely we can see it. Protecting the fish for our future generations we must not be ignorant to it. 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Used these and in the edge or short casts are ideal. Longer casts and in wind they can be subject to lesser aero dynamics and can go a fair way off course but obviously a great alternative for stealthy work.

I think these have a place depending where you are ie: close in fishing,these type of leads(stones)are ideal for me when I’m on the canals after the carp close in.. But when I’m on a lake not really good for casting 70/80 yds plus and no good for ova bag work either.

I have given 90% of Pallatrax products over 3 years of use and the stonze are brilliant apart from zig fishing as the stonze aren't dense enough for an adjustable type! Back stonze are fab , terminal tackle is 100% but alas the bait I caught less in the last two seasons than the new companies I'm using this year. Would I use Pallatrax stuff deffo but I'd never join the Team again as it feels too clicky and you get shot down if you scrutinise

What about uneven lake beds , slightly sloped bars etc stone looks like it would move around a lot more than a lead ? What happens to the rig when there is movement from the stone . Yes they have swivels in them but I’m not sure I’d be confident knowing if I get mugged off by a carp the rig would be presented to say a flat pear lead . Jmo .

Deffo not a fad, no good for outright distance casting to your limits. This guy isnt even casting to his own maximum if he had the right technique. Absolutely great for stalking in clear water and had fish on some really pressured waters on these. The only negatives at all ate size to rate ratio compared to lead and non conformed shapes can effect accuracy at longer distance

@@garrymarshall3031 are we seriously saying a carp will distinguish between a textured lead coated in sand and debris that looks like a lake bottom and a big old stone, i dont think they will tell the difference, and if they are picking up on metal, doesnt the stone have a metal swivel in it, is the hook not metal, is the hooklink not man made
@PallatraxCatchMoreFish
@PallatraxCatchMoreFish 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaquez666 if you study the amazing capability of the carps senses then they can easily distinguish what is alien within their own environment. It's not a case of what we can see but a case of what they can sense eg changes in water pressure. Hence the reason why it is proven you catch more if you scale down the man made eg match angling. Strange that carp angling does the opposite? The real question is then why do lead manufacturers try to camo their leads if there is no issue?
@jaquez666
@jaquez666 2 жыл бұрын
@@PallatraxCatchMoreFish in which case surely the carp detect the "alien" swivel within the stone and will still detect the "alien" hook meaning the stone is pointless or certainly no better than a well camouflaged textured lead, just seems like a gimmick to me

We used to catapult out stones aka Kevin Maddocks to attract the fish to the splash without overfeeding them Plus we all acknowledge that anything can spook wary fish but we regularly launch 6oz spombs over and over again, match anglers "build" a swim using method feeders continually and accurately casting to the same spot. In my opinion the benefits of StonZ cannot be disputed; they carry flavour, they look natural, they provide a surface that groundbait readily adheres to and in this day and age where many anglers don't consider the repercussions of "dumping" a lead, they don't pollute the environment,

Has anyone ever took a sample of water from a busy day ticket and tested the water to see what issues lead is causing with in the lake
@danielfairless6124
@danielfairless6124 2 жыл бұрын
Still negligible but lead is poisonous and fish will sense it. But we all know anglers catch plenty using it, so I guess for me using Stonze it's an environmental reason and being more versatile.
@DjDolHaus86
@DjDolHaus86 2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much every busy lake will be paying attention to water quality and lead contamination is a negligible concern unless an industrial contamination incident has taken place. The basic science is that lead is extremely chemically stable, the only thing that breaks it down into soluble components is that first it needs to oxidise and then it needs long exposure to relatively strong acids. Large lumps of lead wrapped in plastic (i.e. coated fishing leads) will take thousands of years to dissolve within the most acidic substrates found within lakes (silt), this process is further slowed by the relative lack of oxygen within the substrate which slows the initial oxidation process. This of course isn't to suggest that I support the unnecessary dropping of leads within angling or that I'm downplaying the actual toxicity of lead, it's just that there is little evidence to suggest that fishing leads are of any environmental concern. The UK has been ahead of the curve in banning lead shot which poses a tangible threat to wildlife (ie. birds ingesting shot when swallowing gizzard stones) and as such we have seen very few cases of lead poisoning deaths in wildfowl as a result. Fishing leads are essentially getting embroiled in the wider issue of industrial pollution of waterways as a result of mining runoff and illegal dumping. A far more tangible threat to our lakes is the application of salt within baiting strategies, granted it'll take an awful lot of salt to salinate a large body of still water but once you add the salt you can't easily get it back out so it builds and builds until it starts a chain reaction which kills everything from the bottom of the food chain upwards.

Interesting. Its time to start ditching toxic lead, especially when you are fishing drop off style. I find it hypocritical how some companies try to give themselves a green outfit, using paper packaging and what not and then ditch Kilos of lead in the water in their Videos. However as an european angler i have found a major disadvantage when dropping stone rigs from the boat. The stones tend to tumble through the water and cause tangles when placing them in greater depths. I have started to use big screw nuts and i tie a swivel on with natural hemp line. The screw nuts are about 200 gramm, very cheap and they sink in a straight line just line a lead. Also steel is not toxic for the water.
