55-Gallon drum palletizing: www.fanucamerica.com/home/ind...
FANUC America Authorized System Integrator RLS Enterprises integrated the FANUC M410iC/500 palletizing robot into a packaging line to pick and palletize 55-gallon drums weighing up to 600lbs. In addition to 55-gallon drums, the robot’s versatile tooling head also allows the FANUC robot to pick and place 5-gallon pails with handle orientation. FANUC’s M-410iC/500kg payload robot is one of the latest in FANUC’s industry-leading range of palletizing robots. In addition to being faster and stronger than ever, the M-410iC/500 includes a hollow wrist design, ideal for cable routing, and a 3,143mm reach.
When signaled, the robot picks up a wooden pallet from the pallet hopper and places it on the conveyor where the drums will be placed. The robot then goes over to the drum infeed conveyor, turns them until a label is read by the scanner, and detects lid latches for orientation. In order to guarantee accuracy of the pallet placement; the head would push the pallet to the side wall and the conveyor would move in reverse to back the pallet up to the stop for accurate corner placement.
The FANUC robot then picks up the drum and movies it over to the pallet. Before placing it down, the head turns and orients the drum so the label is always facing out. Once complete, the pallet is discharged and the robot will pick another pallet from the hopper to start the cycle again.
