Unfortunately Hunter's quality has gone downhill in the past several years, with their home improvement store series fans being comparable to that of store-brand fans (their Showroom Series fans, however, while not as good as they used to be, are still better quality than the ones sold at home centers). Hunter even owns the Casablanca Fan Company, which has been known to make the best ceiling fans, though Hunter has made the company go downhill as well, cheapening up their most iconic fan models with cheaper components and crappier motors.

I think like all consumer white goods that are bought predominantly on the headline price they have been forced to use cheaper components in order to remain competitive. However the core motor is still excellent quality and they remain one of very few companies to offer a Lifetime Warranty on their motors.

The Casablanca fan line is still overall better than the regular Hunter line. They use mostly skeletal motors for the Casablanca fans that are not DC motored and look a lot like the XTR 200 motors but are much quieter. The Hunter Markham fan is pretty good for a fan that's below $150 with over 6,500 CFMs on High.

Original is still made in China but got some USA-style elements back. Plus, it's not too heavy, as long as installed properly, it should be fine.
