I wouldn't say that Dubai is the envy of the world if * At the Burgh Kalifa, each morning, 100 trucks have to haul out toilet dumps out to the dessert. * Walking around Dubai feels like Vegas casinos * Nothing quaint little shops, nothing authentic Arabic * The weather is so torridly hot that nobody wants to be outside * The city is made for cars, not pedestrians * The city only wants big spenders, not regular people * The other half of Dubai city looks like the old poor 3rd world Dubai * The cultural attraction of Dubai is Western in nature: Disneyland, snow skiing, zoo, aquarium, fancy hotel, food, and very little of Dubai Arab culture

As an expat who has lived in 4 different continents and 8 different cities around the world, regardless of what you or other septics may say about dubai, it is now home for the last 12 years and I could not imagine living in any other city in the world. To clarify, I am not rich or ultra rich, but in my last 12 years I have experienced struggles and challenges, however you push through it simply because the peace of mind you have in dubai can not be found anywhere else, if luxury is to have everything available at an affordable price, then yes I found the luxury life. Nobody threatens you here, no worries of crime, no fear of the crazy human beings, no health concerns and no issues of inflation or corruption like in most countries world wide. Yes it may share a western image or ideology but to be honest, the west is a million miles behind.

1) The Burj Khalifa sewage issue has been resolved since 2011 lol. 2) They are working on making Dubai the most livable city in the world by 2040, making it walkable and not made for cars anymore 3) No part of dubai looks like the "3rd world" Sure, some places will obviously look less luxurious than others, but calling them down right "3rd world" is insane

@@fahimkasmani2180 I think Dubai is the most amazing city I have ever visited and I've travelled the world. So clean, safe, friendly, and the projects they have completed are amazing. Palm Jumeirah is incredible as well and I love going there a lot. Maybe someday, instead of visiting Dubai, I can live there.

Great job. Doubt ‘amusement park’ makes the cut - land will be too valuable. Emaar, Damac, and Meraas are probably better real estate firms than Nakheel. Nakheel has been caught up in a few scandals (Google the Australian who was wrongly thrown in Dubai prison) - hopefully they pull this off.

Of course if the seas rise a couple of feet over the next hundred years the whole place might be inundated by water - so not exactly somewhere I would want to buiy a house ! It's ambitious & idealistic as are all their projects, but to me this is not very sensible. The result of having way too much money to spend & a deep desire to show off to the world ???
