In Thailand , we also use palm leaf and "Wai" (another type of palm) to make that and other stuff

No, they are not edible, this is just meant to be a decorative piece only. In Marbella (Spain) these palm trees are everywhere usually part of someone's garden... I just chopped one of the leaves of a tree that was short enough for me to reach at :)
