Hey Mike any tips for staying overnight at the falls? Some friends and I are headed over next month for some milky way pictures!

Mid week is better since the camp sites there are first come first serve and usually fill up quickly in peak months / weekends. If you can't grab a campsite, you can still park there and camp in the field which you're not suppose to do, but if I had no choice I would do that. Just make sure you pack up your tent early before any rangers come to catch you. Typically rangers show up around 8am or 9am I think, so I would play it safe and have my gear packed by 7ish. I got there at 7pm mid week, found 1 spot left to camp and left relatively early (8am) so I didn't even have to pay to camp there since nobody was there to collect.

Amazing! That waterfall is massive, what did you light it up with?

I other photographers that night were using a spot light. I was taking a 6 minute exposure while they lit it a few times.

I didn’t do anything wrong… be mad at the Big Government who thinks it needs to save everyone from themselves. It’s not my fault a person drowned there, another fell from the cliff and a morons vandalized the area (the alleged reasons for the closure). All these places should be at your own risk and the government shouldn’t tell you what you can and can’t do because of rare tragedies that happen. Yosemite averages 12-15 deaths alone every year due to hikers… should we ban everyone else from entering the park because we can prevent 12 - 15 deaths? Those people know the risk and want to enjoy life regardless of that risk. Don’t be a 🐑 that scapegoats adventure seekers like myself, when the real problem is big daddy government interfering with our lives.
